To be frank in BB terms Games Day is nothing (and I go to Games Day every year). I didn't even know there was going to be any BB last year, and I did spend time trying to find out (and yes I did see it when I was there).

I do think that it is reasonable to give the organiser of a small BB event at Games Day a free ticket or two as thanks, but I also don't like it that you got to buy tickets from the general sales allocation early.

It's not your fault, but the very fact that we didn't know about it makes it secret. I'm sure that many of the BB clubs across the country would have considered registering if they'd known about such benefits.

Out of curiosity which tourneys do you help out at and which ones do you run?

We have run a couple of local WH40K tournies, since we were accepted into the GCN a few months ago. We have run participation games of DungeonBowl at GamesDay for the last couple of years. Our club isn't just a BB club - we pretty much do everything.

I just think this is being blown out of proportion, I don't think anymore people are going to buy tickets, so I don't think that people who don't get theirs till the 28th will miss out.

But you are entitled to your thoughts - just don't hold it against me.

the point is it sells out in a couple of hours every year

and a lot of us tournament goers organise a lot of bb tournaments throughout the year and to miss out on tickets in this manner is silly

pretty much every tournament is part of the NAF which tbh is a very large gaming club and it wasn't exactly made aware in any way to them

didn't know there was a club that played bloodbowl in brighton and I had searched online and on the games workshop club search useless thing

I could probably come along at some point, care to PM me club details or website etc?

Guys - I can understand your frustration but I don't think it is as big a deal as you think it is. Also it's not my fault - I'm just trying to defend myself here after making a casual comment.

I'm curious about the numbers of tickets available in advance through the gaming club network. Should we end up with NAF members who play multiple BB tournies annually and are mainstays of the international BB Tournament community being unable to get tickets through oversubscription because some 40K/WH players just fancy the weekend and have been given priority then I'm going to be asking some serious questions. :pissed:

People that play WH40K and Warhammer arn't a lesser form of human. I play both games and am a NAF member and have been to all the BB's since and including ressurection. Does this mean I am less worthy of a ticket than someone who has played many international tournies? I thought we were all part of a world wide gaming community, seems a bit childish to discriminate against someone just because this might be their first BB.

I can honestly see your point, and I appriciate your view but you are reading way too much into this.

I am part of the BB community, and I play other GW games. They don't have to be mutually exclusive. I got people playing BB at GamesDay through running Dungeonbowl games. People that said they were going to go away and start playing the game because of it. Surely this is a good thing for the game and the community? I think the only people that will get them early are people that play BB. If they don't then you have new recruits to the BB community. Surely this is a good thing?

Valen - all you need to do is to form a club and become part of the GCN. It isn't hard and doesn't cost anything, just a few forms to fill in, the you can benfit too. Simple as that. There is no conspiricy.

I have no problem with you getting a ticket and well done on the new recruits, but there will be alot of guys who like Deathwing said, WFB or 40k players who are part of one of these clubs who just get a tciket for the weekend away, they are taking valuable tickets from the BB community

Nobody's advocating discriminating against anybody. But as Valen points out, actually those who are discriminated against are those who don't have an opportunity to be part of a GW Gaming Club (For example our international members).

And all I'm reading into this is that Gaming Clubs get opportunities to get hold of tickets in advance of everybody else.

It's not that simple, at least when I/we tried to join. We've been gaming together for the best part of 10 years, orginally at each others houses, then when it got to a regular group of 6+, at a local scout hall.
We were a member of the old games club network (or whatever it was called) but got taken off the list. When we tried to rejoin, we were told we had to club rules for this, and a commitee for that.

Why?

If we've managed to game together for 10years without it, I can't see why we must have it now.

And if they've removed these requirements (which they my well have done) then they should have made that known.
