Chaos All Stars/Mongul Horde/Chaos Pact.

Post by bigallium »

everybody hated the chaos pact team, and for good reason.
This is an idea I had of how this generically unbalanced idea may be made to work. (ideas borrowed from old 2nd ed Mongul Horde)

Team Roster

0-4 Blocker Types 100k
0-2 Throwers 80k
0-2 Big Guy 120k
0-16 Lineman 60k

RRs 70k

for each player bought, coach choses which player catagory he is buying from and rolls on that table.

Blockers (D6)
1.Chaos Warrior
2.Dark elf Blitzer
3.Black Orc
4.Orc Blitzer
5.Skaven Blitzer
6.Norse Blitzer

Throwers (D4)
1. Norse Thrower
2. Dark Elf Thrower
3. Skaven Thrower
4. Orc Thrower

Linemen (D6)
1. Goblin
2. Dark elf
3. Norse
4. Orc
5. Skaven
6. Beastman

Big Guy (D6)
1-2 Troll
3-4 Minotaur
5-6 Ogre

Dislike Rule

When ever a player in this team attempts to hand-off/pass to a team member who is of a different race roster (e.g. does not apply to goblin to orc or beastman to chaos warrior) they must 1st roll a 4-6 on a D6. If they fail they cannot complete the action and the action is lost.

The concept of balance in this team is thus..

+ves - 2 x big guys / mixed race team
-ves - paying more for team than team value / dislike rule

I think this would be a fun team to play but not overpowering due to high maintanence costs.

thoughts?

Just One Problem

Post by alslammerz »

The one problem I see with this is that it's too random. It poses a model problem. Perhaps I have Orcs, Gobbos, Chaos, and Delf and all I can see to roll is Norse + Skaven with Ogre Big Guys. Also, I can't recreate the Lowdown Rats for Example of only Skaven and Gobbos. One way of doing this might be to roll for
0-4 Blocker Types 100k
0-2 Throwers 80k
0-2 Big Guy 120k
0-16 Lineman 60k
beforehand and then the results are what you're allowed to pick from. So I roll 16 times for Linemen and end up with 8 Gobbos, 4 Orcs, a Beastmen, a Skaven and 2 Dark Elves. Now this is the roster I'm allowed to choose from, ie, if I wanted 8 blockers I could take 8 Gobbos or 4 Orcs, 2 Dark Elves, a Beastmen, and a Skaven.
Also, I'd add Chaos Dwarfs, Hobgoblins, and Rat Ogres as choices, and Snotlings and Snow Trolls if you want a PBBL team. Plus they would need the option of Star Players (which could mean 3 Ogres w/ Morg) and secret weapons would somehow have to be included (Chaos Dwarf expertise plus Goblin "ingenuity" plus the assassins of Skaven and Delf [PBBL] is a lot of dangerous combos there.) And House Rule wise, you could just say they don't get access to these things, but that's what maks half these races fun. Just my opinion though.

Surely that's the Underworld Creepers - the Lowdown Rats was a goblin team?
There's a set of rules for the Creepers on Galak's hopepage, based on a set we thrased out here. They were never based on the Mongrel Horde theme, always a team to themselves.

IIRC the team was:
0-2 Storm Vermin GSM
0-2 Throwers GPM
0-2 Lineman GP
0-12 (0-16 now) Goblins AP
0-1 Troll SP
Rerolls 70k
And rules for fighting in the dugout.

ONly change I'd make from that team would be to change the lineman o 0-6, with a special rule that the number of Skaven could not exceed 6.

That's the Name!

Yeah, I was talking about the Creepers. I had just read something about the Rats in something though and the name stuck with me. D'OH.

If your worried about which models you have, you could just alter the dice result. e.g if you don't have norse model, add in extra skaven or orcs into the equation, or maybe a chaos dwarf. Or you could just re-roll any initial results where you don't have the available model, and when buying new players in the middle of a league you could either do the same or treat the result as "no players of this type available". Lets face it this type of team will never be official, so you could fiddle round with it to suit your own league. It does sound fun though, and the team should be played in an appropriately evil manner with lots of secret weopon access.

Exactly.

and tbh unless you rolled a really freak team you'd only have to provide a few models of each race, so position models aren't so necerssary e.g. storm vermin could be represented by a skaven lineman, a dark elf could be represented by any elf figure you have and norse by a human.

Granted its the sort of team you could only play if you have at least a small collection of models but hey..

I like this idea. A way to put the Chaos All-Stars together. What would you recommend as the available star players?
