Funny - I'm trying to start a newbie league to entice new players. I wanted to use DEs, so this thread is perfect! Looks like I'll borrow Solomon's list!
Thanks all

Back in the saddle with Dark Elves

I'm also starting a Dark Elf team for my next season and it's a new experience for me ... although I've already played a season with Wood Elves (and Skaven, but who cares ?) and I played a little bit with the High Elves which look a lot like Dark Elves.
Solomon's roster seemed interesting, a good mix of somehow high FF, 2 RRs and 2 positional players with the highest MA and AV of the team :
1 Blitzer - 100k
10 Line-elves - 700k
2 RRs - 100k
9 FF - 90k
10k in bank
I lose one player with block and MA7, but it allows me to start with max FF and I'm already pretty used to play with Line-elves. That other roster would interest me as well for a particular reason :
1 Witch Elf - 110k
10 Line-elves- 700k
2 RRs - 100k
9 FF - 90k
The main reason is that, in our league, we've got to give one of our players the "Captain" tag, which grants him Leader and a free skill (without any SPP cost). Also, if the captain die, I lose 1 FF and my next one won't benefit the extra skills. It would then mean starting with a Blodging, Frenzy, Jump-Up player (except if I get double of stat increase) instead of just a Blodging one (although it isn't bad neither
.
My main concern for choosing between one of the rosters is that I'm hesitating on making my captain a Witch Elf or a Blitzer as it needs to be decided before the first game. So basically, I'm asking if it'd be better to make it a Witch Elf (meaning a loooot of skills for that player) or a Blitzer (safer choice with the AV8).
Of course it mostly depends on my playstyle and coaching skills, but I'd still like to hear other opinions.

But I reckon I'd be a little more interested in making a roster like this one :SolomonKane wrote: 2 Blitzers - 200k

I play in a relatively short league, 8-10 games or so for the whole season, and the season would be over well before most of the teams suggested for league play had developed beyond 90% lino's. Now, with the caveat that DE are probably not the best team to play in these conditions, I like the "style" of dark elves and take them with a view that I'm going to get a limited time to develop them.
2 blitzers
1 witch
1 thrower
7 lineelfs
1 re-roll
6 ff
I like the thrower because I want to minimise re-roll use so the Pass skill is useful and I find that he allows the team to change up between running and passing depending on the opposition.
The witch is vital because she's what makes the DE team unique, she can be fragile but she's certainly fun. Rookies don't always learn to give the sidelines a wide berth the first time either:)
Anyway, that works for me in that it's competitive early on and has the essential character I need. In a different league you'll have different requirements.
