Just for discussion - Dwarf rejiggle.

Right, straight off, I understand this has 0% chance of makig the PBBL, in fact, I'm not even asking it to be considered. I'd just like to see a discussion on this.

Dwarf Blockers were (are) Dwarf Longbeards, which, according to all the WFB fluff, one of the Dwrfs Elite units, the old geezers who've seen it all, done it all and grumbled about it all.
Therefore, it's always seemed "wrong" to me they were the "rank-and-file" so to speak of the dwarf roster.

So with that in mind, I wonder what people think of a return of the Dwarf lineman, to represent the true rank-and-file of the dwarf world, the Warrior.

To that end, Blockers would become 0-6, and a Lineman position added:
0-16 Lineman 4/3/2/9 Block 50k or
0-16 Lineman 5/3/2/9 Block 60k
Rerolls would go to 50k (prices open to arguement)

Straight away, I'm going tosay that any arguement thats based on figures is not going to sway me either way because
a) The Dwarf figs (boring as I find them) would work equally well for both blockers and the new lineman (base rings, numbers, whatever) and with the new plastics, they'd be easy to convert anyway, and
b) It's a hypothectical discussion anyway, so hypothetically, we can get new models scuplted for them.

So, discuss on.

As a dwarf coach I would never buy one. The Blockers with tackle are pretty valuable, arguably the best linemen in the game. At 0-6 I still have enough to field my usual lineup of 6 blockers, 2 blitzers, 2 troll slayers, 1 runner.

I'd quite happily take this guy .. the extra MV is cool. In fact, I thought of a "Pro Dwarf" team ages ago that looked something like this:

0-16 Lineman 5/3/2/9 Block, TS 60k
0-4 Runners 6/3/3/8 Sure Hands, TS 80K
0-2 Blitzers 5/3/3/9 Block, TS 80K
0-2 Blockers 4/3/2/9 Block, Stand Firm, TS

Why not let 0-4 blockers? this we the dwarves have 10 positional...instead of 12...

MA 5 seems wrong to me, as that would make the dwarf linmen as fast as orc linemen.

What if you had

Lineman 4/3/2/9 block, TS
Blockers 4/4/2/9 block TS

that could make up for loss of tackle.
Overall though i like it as is.

i think darkson has a great idea...xtreme says he wouldn't take them, but i'd bet plenty of dwarf coaches would. and even xtreme's team needs a bench right?

i would go for the ma4, 50k version. as has been said, ma5 is too high on a standard dwarf.

the point about the longbeards is dead on, too, although i guess the move is away from the warhammer world in general so the positional name isn't super relevant.

at any rate, this would open up more options on a dwarf team starting lineup...i like it. it probably will never happen though, as you say.
