goblins vs dark elfes! what to do with my money?

Post by Carloz »

I'm playing with my goblins a semi-final against dark elves. 8)
I had some losses in my last match so I only have 2 trolls and 10 gobs left. What to do with my 90.000 gp?

Some options I've been thinking about

1) Starplayer Ripper Bolgrot + freeboot 1 goblin (90kgp)
2) Nobbla Blackwart (chainsaw) + buy 1 goblin (80kgp)
3) Fungus (ball and chain) + Scrappa (pogostick) + freeboot 1 goblin (90kgp)
4) Fungus + Nobbla + freebooter
5) Thrud + buy 1 goblin

Opinions on this or other ideas are very welcome. :P

Thanks

All dwarfs are by nature dutiful, serious, literate, obedient and thoughtful people whose only minor failing is a tendency, after one drink, to rush at enemies screaming "Arrrrrrgh!" and axing their legs off at the knee. (TP)

I would go for option 1 or 4. Probably 1. Ripper won't be sent off and you can use him to lob gobs all over the pitch with little risk.

Niceish... Allows you to try some slightly less risky Gobtossing, but only if you are truly desperate.

Nobbla RULES against AV7/8 Blodge teams, he can wreak havoc on the witches and blitzers, and he has Frenzy too in case some elf requires a hand in leaving the pitch...

Don't field him on the Elves drive (they will score fast anyway), but on your drive, spend rerolls to get that chainsaw started and *protect* him.

He will get rid of a ton of players with near riskfree blitzes.

Toby Wan wrote:3) Fungus (ball and chain) + Scrappa (pogostick) + freeboot 1 goblin (90kgp)
Fungus can be funny, but really only a lot of use vs ST teams, Scrappa is _the_ most useless starplayer ever. "Ooooh, 4+ Leaps, and I can waste as many rerolls on him as I like..." No thanks.
Toby Wan wrote:4) Fungus + Nobbla + freebooter
The best option if all you need is to win this match, Fungus can draw attention away from Nobbla (not if your opponent is smart), and maybe even get some blocks in, Nobbla is just the best.

Err... No. Thrud has no tackle, so a waste against most DElves.

As a DElf player I'd be most worried about Nobbla - the chainsaw is pretty terrifying. He will draw a LOT of heat (at least he would if I was playing) - I'd make it my mission to take him out of the play as soon as possible.

Be sure, that IS my mission...

And to be complete, Toby's situation isn't so bad as he said: I'm having only 12 players (included niglings, and a key player will be missing the match), and he will have 5 handicaps.

Stress is all on me
