Set up question

Post by Cujo8-1 »

Hi. I am very new to BB and have been reading all that I can get my hands on. There are no local, active players that I know of here, but I would like to change that eventually. In the meantime, I would like to teach some of the people in my household how to play.

However, I am confused on one point. After reading material on offensive and defensive tactics and setups, I am under the impression that much of the gametime is spent manuevering pieces into formations that allow for moving toward the end zone and eventually scoring. This is offset somewhat by making sure players are in a position to prevent the opponent from scoring should a fumble or interception occur. Is this correct?

I just want to make sure that this is correct and that we don't reset the pieces on the line of scrimmage in order to conduct some of the tactics I have seen (like in real American Football) each time we advance the ball up the field.

Thanks to all!

you're right. There are no "downs" in the current or soon to be official version (5.0). Defense sets up first for the kick, followed by Offense. Once the balls away, it's a continuous play. So if you're ace thrower botches a pickup attempt or throw and the defense recovers, play continues and you might be hopelessly out of defensive position. Think of it in terms of rugby or football (soccer) with a continuously running clock and no pauses.

hey, even a blind squirrel can find an acorn every once in a while.

Welcome to the world, indeed. A world in which the likes of even your incredibly lucky, thrown teammate touchdown scoring gobbo, Eddie da Eegul, right stuff, dodge, stunty, catch, sprint, sidestep, gets eaten by his troll teammate Zagg. :P

and he had thrown eddie for about 4 touchdowns in the last 5 games. Rumor has it that the other gobbo on the team, Ginja Viduz "coaxed" Zagg to scarf down his rival so he could get into the starting side. :D
