Hey Brokje,
What do you know about Italian bread ?
I can say a few, deducting from what you write about !
Before to use such a silly line, please take information about adn remember:
1. Never talk about italians and their food, becasue food (and how to cook it)in Italy is often art and always religion !
2. I'm really sorry for the rest of the world but nobody knows how to cook better than italians (maybe this is too partizan ? Isn't it ?
)
3. Make some search even on the net and you'll discover various bread kind that last for one week and they're as good as first day.
Ignorance can be forgiven, bad habit not.

I totally agree with you that Italians cook the best food in the world.
However, after spending a week in Italian Youth Hostels (in 2000, btw., so my opinions are a bit outdated) my opinion on Italian breakfasts plumeted down the drain.
This sentence is a quote from a Lonely Planet Guide which we found rather amusing at that time. It is nothing more and nothing less. I will gladly delete the line if you think it is not funny.
To down play my own line, I know of almost no type of bread which stays fresh for more then a few days!
Btw. Can you cook Italian? Maybe you could cook once for me....
