A team for a short(ish) bashy league

Post by jimmy944 »

Ok, basically I am in a bit of a quandry over what to play in this years league, I will be up against

2 Necro
1 Skaven
1 Lizardman

Only 8 games this year (shorter than last year). The lizard player is the biggest nightmare as he has a tendancy to try and take as many players of yours off the field no matter the situation or score :pissed: Tres annoying!

I really don't want to use either my Dwarfs or CD's, as every match will deteriorate into a slug fest and I really want to play a bit differently to that! My gobbos are way off completion so I came up with the 2 options for a team.

Humans
4 Blitzers 360
2 Catchers 140
1 Thrower 70
4 Linemen 200
Apoth 50
3 Re-rolls 150
FF 3 30

This is the standard human team from the list given here, should do quite well and humans have always been a favorite of m mine. I will most likely play the passing game after the first game or two.

Lizardmen
3 Saurus 240k
9 Skinks 540k
3 Rerolls 180k
FF 4 40k

These are a bit more off the wall but they should do well with little/no tackle around to pin them down. Plus all those M8 players is just cool! I would quite like an elf team but watching them have the Cr@p stomped out of them by that lizzy team would be just too much to bear

Any thoughts on these teams/alternative suggestions?

If you took the lizards i'd go for 5 or 6 sauri to protect your skinks. 3 sauri are easy to pin down and 8 sT2 players will get stomped on at some point, tackle or no tackle. And you will take armour rolls on skinks for 1 in 9 dodges.

I'd consider Orcs as the av9 gives you a big advantage when it comes to a scrimmage. The high armour also allows you to grind out a long rushing TD against the skaven and hopefully you can take some of them out in the process so come next kickoff you'll have an advantage and they have less options. As for that necro team, hit the werewolfs hard and see if your opponent can work without them.

Elves are still a viable team vs lizards. Remember that lizards have no starting players with block and it's not like skinks are going to outrun a elf team. I think woodelves could be a real killer... Skaven as well.

I would go with the humies. Not because I got in the final with them of the TBB World Cup.

They are very flexiable in their style of playing. You can out bash the skaven and the skinks.
But the two wolfs make me worry a bit. In the final I lost to a necro team but I don't think that the coaches in your league can get so many skills on so many different players.

Let us know which team you have chosen.

You could also take humans but ditch the catchers. Take an Ogre instead.
If you decide to take Lizzies, try to take more Sauri: you need them.

Good luck!

It's not a bashy league, it's a fast league!

I'd go for undead. Zombies are great to tie up saurii and ww:s. Mummies are nice against both, and to crunch skaven linemen. Ghouls give you speed to avoid getting completely outrunned. Wights with tackle will be very useful against all three teams.

Chaos dwarfs all the way – you’ve got the CD’s with tackle, block and thick skull, plus av 9, so they wnt be taken off the pitch so easily. Then you got the hobos who can, strange as it may seem, actually pick up the ball and score. The BC’S are you blisters and scoerers to – av9, st. 4 and thick skull, plus the sure feet and sprint mean they can cover up to 9 spaces. The Mino is the big guy choice to, so CD’s id say mate :D

mlindsay2706, I will tyake my CD's if I can't get another team together, my only issue with them is I took them last year and I'd like a change.

Many thanks for all the suggestions, I would like an orc team but right now I can't really afford the time and cash to put one together.

Just so long as I can paint them in time it will be humans I think. Will let everyone know how the games go.
