Skills For Orc Blitzer
I have two orc Blitzers who have got their first skill and i'm not sure what to give them, i've listed my shortlist and reasons below:
Guard - Usefull against other running teams and especially sauruses.
Mighty Blow - Good for gaining additional experiance
Tackle - needed for taking down the pesky dark elf blitzers i play against but less usefull against the other teams in our league.
Strip Ball - Of more wide use against other teams than tackle but still useful against the dark elves.
My basic problem is that i play against a lot of running teams (where Guard and MB would be useful) but it's the Throwing teams I have trouble against (Because I can't knock down Block&Dodge players easily).
Any advice?

Strip Ball is nasty : it forces running teams to take Sure Hands instead of possible more useful skill. It sets them in a "defensive" mode : they react to your skill choice instead of choosing as they wish to.
I also like Tackle a lot : all my Chaos Dwarves come with it, and Dodgy teams hate me ! They use their re-rolls pretty fast !

Take one stripballl and one guard,
wouldnt really bother with MB right now,and take tackle as a later skill.

I'd take Guard now Strip Ball later
On the other guy I'd take Mighty Blow and Tackle later.
You've got skinks in your league haven't you? =)

Getting a Mighty Blow/Tackle player is usually a priority with me, since they take on the job of "elf-killer". (A generic term for someone who hurts them dodgy gits who score a bunch) Strip Ball is a purely defensive skill, but tackle can be used for headhunting when you are on offence. If your team has no Mighty Blow, you'll want to get some. Make a point of using him to blitz or block every turn, and you will start to see the results in his KO/Injury box.
So without knowing what your next opponents are, I would go with: Blitzer 1 - Tackle. Blitzer 2 - Mighty Blow. If your other blitzers are close to a skill and you play against three running teams in a row, you should probably make different choices, o'course.

Thanks for the advice. I think i'm erring towards tackle at the mo.
Guard seems more useful for Black Orcs (although they also need Block and Piling On), and as pointed out by Skummy strip ball is purely defensive so I think i'll wait on that one.
I also like the idea of an 'Elf-Killer' having been on the recieving end of this in the past it would be nice to be the one doing the killing for a change

I'm surprised no one has yet to mention Pro as the first skill for Orc Blitzers. On an Orc Team, your blitzers are your all around guys and are often in the best position to make the opportunistic plays. Pro helps you strip the ball, pro helps you catch the ball, pro helps you dodge, pro helps you inflict damage, and sometimes it prevents a turnover when you're out of TRRs.
Granted, I do think Guard is never a wasted skill... for anyone, and If your league is particularly dodgey I'd consider Tackle.
My 2 cents.

PRO.
As a first skill.....no way, you should have enough team re rolls to compensate for mess ups, pro Gives you a 50% chance to re roll a dice, which you could still fail.
I'd rather go for something that is gonna have more impact.
Pro is usually 3rd choice on my wights, after they have tackle/kick or stripball.

orc blitzer
in the old days, (3rd ed) i used to have an very annoying orc blitzer
block dodge and stand firm. and always wanted guard for him.
in a unit he is a nightmare for opponants. always assisting and difficult to take out of the equasion.
you want to develop different players for seperate tasks but this guy was always my favorite. if he ever went down you could see the foul coming a mile away

Good combination but hard to get now as both skills require a double on the skill roll, If I could pick Stand Firm or Dodge for my players I would'nt be debating the other skills.in the old days, (3rd ed) i used to have an very annoying orc blitzer

How about giving them both Guard and then using them in the same WZ to support eachother? Then they would be throwing ST4 blocks all over the place. With luck your oppenent will avoid this flank and then mass together in the center and the other WZ thus giving you two advantages. You can surround him and you have an open path you can use for running the Lineman or Goblin down.
