You guys rule!!
Thanks for all the advice...I believe I am going to go for the Stand Firm. I love mucking it up against other teams with my Chaos Dwarves. The Bulls can be a real pain in the posterior and I would love nothing more than to mess up my opponents plans because he can't move him out of the way.
Although, Dodge still does sound good. DAMN, just too many good choices.
Sorry SBG, don't have any rosters up on the net. I've only played one game so far with this team anyways, so it wouldn't be any fun to look at. Now, some of my old CD teams would be cool

Bull Centaur Skill
Stand Firm is a very nice skill, I have to admit, for exactly the same reason I'd be choosing Dodge.
You can use it to get to the really annoying players (dodging loses it's downside with Stand Firm, definately go for this option more) but the other advantage of dodge is that you go down less often. Combined with block, the Bull Centaur is going to be twice as annoying as a wardancer on speed.
Use the Centaurs effective, movement of 9 all the time! I find it makes the team.

You could be a little nicer when people have different opinions then you. No, I am not high (well, not at the moment anyways). Sidestep is a much undervalued skill, and it comes in very handy when running along the sidelines, choosing where you are being pushed to can be huge. Stand Firm is an equally good skill, but I was just submitting another alternative.Zombie wrote:Are you high? Stand firm is 10 times better than side step for a ball carrier because it helps you dodge, but side step can be better for a blocker because you can get into a position that's even worse for the opponent.

I think Side Step might be the better choice, since I would be tempted to take Break Tackle on a BC as well. Dodging with AG4 and a reroll is decent, and Side Step will help you get out of sticky situations more often the Stand Firm IMO.Sidestep is a much undervalued skill, and it comes in very handy when running along the sidelines, choosing where you are being pushed to can be huge.

Coupled with break tackle, stand firm rules. You could dodge into 2 or 3 tackle zones to break a cage, and not care about falling over or causing a turnover. It also helps when making standard 2+ dodges when you've used up your TRR to catch the ball, if you don't have anymore for the half, or if you'd rather keep it for some more important action later in your turn. Finally, it lets you attempt any dodge without any fear.
I wouldn't dream of giving a break tackle player side step instead of stand firm. For that kind of player, i'd rate stand firm as 10/10 and side step as 3/10. Stand firm is a must for any player who intends to dodge a lot.

I gave mine dodge, bit redundant against dwarfs but I dont' keep him on the los. I often find my opponent gets one die pushback/pow results on my bulls when they blitz him, so it will help keep him up a bit more and well when i get him break tackle he should be able to get about pretty good.

I gotta go with Zombie here. Stand Firm is the top notch choice if you are going to be dodging alot with him. The safety net of dodging without falling down is just too sweet. I pray for doubles on my Orc blitzers just for this reason.
Besides you get one more double and you pick up dodge, he becomes the absolute nightmare of your opponents.

If he gets Break Tackle though Sidestep could be better, now his dodges are lower risk (1 at least) and once he's in the cage he's real tough to shift out again - a nightmare for your opponents.
Besides if your on a mission and you miss the dodge, stand firm may stop a turnover but you better hope you've got another option (bearing in mind you may already have used your Blitz).
I'm not saying either skill is better, just that I think a lot of you are underating sidestep (or overating SF). I think they are both top class skills and worth considering.

The short answer is "no", but it is a qualified "no" because there are odd ways of interpreting the question which could justify the answer "yes".

It depends on which BC I would roll a double on what skill I'd choose. Of my two BCs, one of them is the designated Ball Carrier and the other one is a Blitzer/Blocker/Hitter. The first one has already got Block and Sure Hands, but he would get Dodge on a double. Break Tackle is his next normal skill. The second one has gotten Stand Firm and he is to get Block and Guard as his next two skills.
So in essence, it depends on what you want to use him for. For a Ball Carrier, go with Dodge, for a blitzer, use Stand Firm.
And Thadrin, you're up next!!

Vi kommer att göra med er som min älskade Leksand gjörde mot MoDo ikväll!
(summary for those not in the know: CN plays in the same league as me, and I'm next on his schedule. I have two games to play before we can play though, thanks to our league's fixed schedule and players being on holiday etc. Translation of the swedish on request.)

Like i said, i agree that side step is vastly underrated. But for players who intend to dodge (and bull centaurs always dodge a lot once they've got breack tackle, which they invariably get sooner or later), stand firm is so much better, it's not even funny.Munkey wrote:I'm not saying either skill is better, just that I think a lot of you are underating sidestep (or overating SF). On a chaos dwarf blocker, the choice would be much harder to make.
