i wasn't trying to directly compare them in any sense other than that they were both big guys...just to point out that even though i brought a big guy, the rats still left the field with alarming regularity.

right, under no circumstances should you think of using a treeman in the same manner as you would a rat ogre. i'm sorry if my comparison gave off that impression.
the rat ogre is often a very big part of the skaven offense and defense, despite their unreliable nature. making holes to run through, using that tail to put himself in very annoying positions, frenzying opponents out of bounds, blitzing ever so rarely, and so on.
the treeman's sole purpose is to stand on the line and be st6 and av10. if they take root fine, they're still not av7 like the rest of your team. if he gets to throw a block now and then, and maybe even get the occasional cas, that's just bonus.

Well, IMO if you're a good player, have experience with wood elves and you're playing for the tourney win taking a tree would be a big mistake. But since you'r asking us these questions you probably don't fall in this category.krendal wrote:probably i'll play with tree, but i'm not sure that is so good for we like ratogre for skaven.ratogre is a mobile guy, like the skaven. treeman has only mv2....i don't know.... i must use it, then i can say my opinion.
If you're not that experienced with wood elves it's very hard to keep them out of harm's way so it probably is a good idea to take the treeman.
@Wesley: just a hypothetical question, should Skaven be allowed a treeman instead of a Rat Ogre would you take it then for a tourney? I certainly wouldn't! I also play skaven in 110 tr ressurection tourneys (very succesfully even, currently 6-2-0 wdl record) and also regularly end the match with less then 6 players but I win those games anyway because I take a 3-td lead first. I think the same applies to Wood Elves.

Yep ... I'm playing Woodelfs now for years and best season I've ever played in our league was without a tree.
Nice to have, but not necessary. On the other side: It depends on against what teams you have to play and which style you prefer!

That's indeed a strange hypothetical. To be honest, I think I would switch to the treeman instead of the rat ogre, but just because it's cheaper and would let me keep the same roster I have brought to previous tourneys +1 ff.TuernRedvenom wrote:@Wesley: just a hypothetical question, should Skaven be allowed a treeman instead of a Rat Ogre would you take it then for a tourney? The point is, neither team gets that choice. If wood elves want a big guy, they have to take a tree. And while there's no question that I wouldn't take one in a TR100 tourney, but at TR110 I think it could be a real asset because it will help keep the rest of them alive. Some people have suggested a line elf and a reroll would be better, and maybe so, but I think I would try the treeman roster.

no i i'm not a good player, i've played tourneys only from 2 years, but i play all tipe of elves(i play only elves).TuernRedvenom wrote: Well, IMO if you're a good player, have experience with wood elves and you're playing for the tourney win taking a tree would be a big mistake.
i heard many people that says me that tree wuoldn't be a good choice(even panico told that), but ii hope that him will be good for how i play(even if i thimk that there are no many ways to play we).
i hope that tree will be a solid centre for the games, and i trust in ag4 to put off my woody's back out of danger.
