STAB and Blitzing with Assassins
It is my intention to take Dark Elves in this seasons league.
I forsee this one coming up and want to be sure its right before, not after, the occurance.
The Assassin declares a blitz on X fig, 6 squares away. To make the "hit" or rather "armour roll" the assassin moves his full 6 sqaures allowance and is now next to X fig. Now the rules say "it takes the place of a block action" so I kinda think that I would need to go for it to make the armour roll.
But then again, the arguement is perhaps "well its not a block, it's a stab" and you are not actually rolling block dice, so very importantly there is no chance of following up which is why when making a normal blitz you would need that GFI. There is absolutely no chance of more movement at any stage in this situation, why would you need to roll a go for it?
Thoughts?

Yeah, don't do it.Lycos wrote:Thoughts?

Keep your TV low and induce the Star Assassin for the games you'll need it (Blodgers mainly).
As for the rules part, I'm sure it was discussed on the SG forum, and Galak gave the definitive answer, but for the live of me I can't recall what the answer was, and the search function there hates me and never shows me the right threads.

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

I will do that for you Jim.
The bad news for me is that of the 17 other coaches, they have gone for Undead, Orcs, Necro, Khemri, Chaos etc. Generally very bashy and high armour except for a very few others.
My intent was not really to use the Assassins at any stage in the 10 game season, start at 100 with linemen and a few positionals and then buying Witches, other blitzers etc meant no space. But a free armour roll is handy. Sure I might fail mostly, but with so many BOBs and Mummies about means I dont have roll "2D against" as it were.
Hence I could see the intial question arising.
Thanks Galak, by the way

You're correct, you do not get SPP for stabing or when using a chainsaw.dwarfrunner wrote:On a similar note, if you inflict an injury with stab, does that count towards SPP?
I would assume since it is not technically a block, and you can only get SPP rom blocks, that the answer will end up being no. I was just hoping, maybe.

well....4 games in so far, 2 dead lineman but 2 wins and 2 draws has put me top of my division (of 9). I have managed to get skills up too and rolled 2 doubles for a blitzer and runner and taken Guard on both.besters wrote:I'm impressed by you taking a Dark Elf team for a league. Alas.... I havent used assassins yet.... and franky with only 2 blitzers and 1 Witch so far, I doubt I shall get enough money to get one within the next 6 games. (need 2 more blitzers first)

Guard on the runner is not the best option...NoS is a MUST.Lycos wrote:well....4 games in so far, 2 dead lineman but 2 wins and 2 draws has put me top of my division (of 9). grotuk.
The Dark Elf Runner gets NOS on regular skill rolls I believe.
It has passing access.
Guard is an interesting choice. I might have been tempted to take strong arm to develop the longer distance thrower..... But guard does have its uses and won't be "wasted" I'm sure.

Besters: After 4 games I am now back to 11 available players. With 70k banked I am hoping for G6 (G5 winnings to add) I will have a 3rd blitzer.
Re Guard.
The decision was partly based on something in a previous post above. I have 10 games, played 4 (orcs x2, Human, khemri) and 6 to come (chaos x2, Necro, Undead, CDs and then, High Elves).
For 5 of those games I need to survive a blocking war and the two answers I have are dodge and guard so I am maximising my survival chances.
