MVP - Who gets it?
First played in '94....just started a league with ten teams and played first match last weekend.
In the LRB 5.0, it says player that wins the MVP is a "random player" from your team. How do I know who gets the MVP and the 5 SPP that come with it?
As far as I know we aren't playing any of the optional rules re:MVP determination; just the standard MVP determination.

It's a random player, so you pick one at random (so a D16, D12, D10, D8 or [heaven forbid!] D6 depending on how many players you have).
Note it can only go to a player that was eligible to play in the game (even if they never leave the dugout) so Stars, Mercs and Journeymen are eligible, but players with Miss Next Game injuries aren't.

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

13 is the perfect number to use a deck of cards for.
Ace through King or 2 through ace down your roster.
Or the game does come with pretty numbered chits you can pull from a hat.
Or write thier names on a piece of paper and pull from a hat/bag/box.
Random is random really. Have fun with it.

If you only have D6 and D8 you can use those:
To pick from 16 slots:
Roll D6. On a 1-3 roll a D8. On a 4-6 roll a D8 and add 8 to the result.
To pick from 12 slots:
Roll D6. On a 1-3 roll a D6. On a 4-6 roll a D6 and add 6 to the result.
This gives you equal chance of selecting one player from 16 or 12 as appropriate.
Re-roll both dice if you don't have a player in that slot.

We have a house rule where players who die during the game are not elligible. Other than that, we follow the rules as is (as Darkson specified them).
There are many ways to pick the random player. We got some d16s from Chessex (thanks to MuseFable who ordered a bunch at some point). If your roll doesn't map to a player (no player with that number, player missed game, or player dead in our case), then roll again.
But really, you can pull straws, whatever you fancy. The cheapest thing, use the numbered chits that come with the game, that's what they are there for. It is fun to be a bit more imaginative though.

But it can also lead to one player doing really well and levelling up and then because he's levelled and gotten more skillful he then becomes the person to use for that given situation and levels up again faster due to all the MVP's that you give him.
Personally I prefer random, and as current league commish (for our group) that's how we do it. There will however be bonus MVP's at the end of the league for the team with most CAS inflictions and TD's and these will be given to the coaches to hand out.

That is how the league I learned BB in did it. For 1 MVP you nominated 3.kithor2002 wrote:Sorry I forgot:
The opponent nominated the MVP of your team.Actually he nominated 3 players and then we rolled a D3 to find out.
For each additional MVP you added another nomination. So it was always 2+ number of MVP's = nominations.
Add in random skill rolls and you got an environment where Choas and Orcs had a really good time. (And dwarves didn't fare too badly when played by a competent coach.)
