Necromancer - Raise dead ability?

Post by numbdummy »

Ello

Couple of questions on the Necromantic team... especially the necromancers (coach) powers during a game.

How excatly does the Raise dead skill work?
Can the Necromancer just raise a dead player or does he have to roll for it? What does he have to roll?.
Can he raise players that have been dead for many games or does it have to happen in the moment death takes place?.
Is he only allowed on Raise dead per game?
Apparently he is allowed to raise any dead player of roughly human size, but are a skavenpalyer for instance a human size player??
Is the player who suffers a death allowed to use his apoth before the necromancer can try his raise death.

Please all info on this matter is welcome... details even better.

Thanks[:)]

You don't have to roll, it works automatically. You have to declare it the moment someone dies (after Apo, etc).
Only 1 raise per game.
Roughly human size means exactly that. Basically no one who is stunty or a big guy, pretty much everything else is fair game (I think max STR 4, so no Mummies, etc.)

If you've argued a call with the ref and lost, can you still do it?

You could, but seeing as Argue the Call is no longer in the rules, it's a moot point. ( :( )

@ numbdummy: What in the following is unclear (not being nasty, just trying to see what's not clearly written).
Instead of purchasing an Apothecary, Necromantic and Undead teams use the services of a Necromancer. The Necromancer is free to the team and allows the team once per a match to ‘Raise the Dead’. If a player on the opposing team with Strength 4 or less that does not have Regeneration or Stunty is killed during the match (after Apothecary attempt if any) then the team may immediately place a new Zombie player in the Reserves box of their dugout (this may cause a team to have more than 16 players for the remainder of the match). During Step 5 of Updating Your Team Roster (see page 29), you may add this player to your roster for free if you have less than 16 players on the team. A free Zombie still counts at full value towards the team value.

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

Sweeet thanks...

One more thing .. maybe a silly question but not too sure about it ..

When you then raise a player from death... do you raise him as a Zombie with zombie stats and regenerate? or do you raise the player so that he keeps the stats and skills he had when he died?

AHA ....

Just figured it out... in the newest edition rulebook (2005) they have left that bit of information out, but if we go back to the 2004 version it clearly states the quote...

Thank you so much.

Actually the newest rulebook edition is 2006 and that is where that quote came from.

You can download that rulebook here:

We once had a House Rule on that: The Coach has one chance after he raised the dead to roll a 12 on two D6 (no reroll possible). If he does, he gets the player with the exact statline and skills/injuries he had.
