New Player (Obviously)
A couple weeks ago I started to see Blood Bowl players at the store I go to to play other GW games. Unable to find a game, I watched their game. I thought it seemed like an interesting game to play, so I looked it up.
I've read through the LRB, and have a slight grasp of the game at the least.
I was thinking about starting a Wood Elves team, using some of the new Wood Elves models for Fantasy, since, well, the actual team is ugly.
Basically, do you have any advice?

Welcome to the forum and to the game!
As far as converting up wood elves, there was a thread, although I don't think I've seen a completed team based on the new models.

If I could make a suggestion I'd probably go with the Shadowforge elf team, budget permitting.

The gw WE team is dated and frankly, ugly.
Hope that helps. You may want to consider starting with a middle of the road team like humans or Orks. I usually recommend them as good starter teams for learning the basics of the game.

Thanks for the warm welcome.
The Shadowforge minis will actually be cheaper straight up than the wood elf conversions I had planned, but I'm scared to think of what shipping will cost... At least they look great.
And I strongly agree about how the GW WE team looks.
As for the Humans/Orks, I do like how the new humans look, but I don't really have enough money to start more than one team.

Orc and Human teams are very affordible if you convert. 40k Orks are great for conversions (do a search in the FF miniatures section) and the Chaos Marauders convert up beautifully for humans. Again there are some great examples out there.Abael wrote:As for the Humans/Orks, I do like how the new humans look, but I don't really have enough money to start more than one team.

If I wasn't using the BB Wood Elf team I'd probably convert up the Wardancers, the Glade Guard just aren't suited imo. No-one in their right mind would play BB in cloaks (except for those silly 3rd ed skaven and Horkon, but lets forget about them)
And as a bonus the Wardancer minis have some great running poses in the mix. But on the whole converting up a Woodie team is going to be tough. It might require digging through the older classic range of GW minis instead.
The other option, and this is the one I personally prefer is to get a set of the 2nd Ed Elves and paint them up as Woodies. 2nd Ed ones are a little to hard to get then the 3rd ed 'Pro' Elf team would also work. (Note: 3rd Ed Elf team isn't considered to be the best set of sculpts, but they do have their merits.)
