the doubts!

well 1st of all: what's for the Referee counter?
In standard games (not Champions, Not All stars etc.) I think that a Human team for example is "worst" than an Orcish team, or a Dark elve team, is just simple like that?
And about the Experience Points, a player can earn points for making a good pass, but it says that can earn points for Catching a pass, but put "(Trhowers points)" are those point for the trower?
About improving players it puts that no one can get 2 "+1 or +2" in the same atribute, this rules apply to the Experiencie Points buyed "Star player points?"...
Well I hope you could take me out of my doubts. I'm from Bolivia and founded a used 1st Edition Blood Bowl in a shop of Used American Stuff (toys, sports material, clothes, old videogames, and Board games!) and me and my mates enjoy this game so much, but the discussion about the doubts are really nasty

It's great that you've found that game and you like it. A lot has happened to the rules since that was written though and I think we have a better game for it. The rules are online and the dice are easily found or converted. You migh tgive them a look over at http://www.specialist-games.com/bloodbowl/rulebook.asp
Welcome to a very addictive game.

H
well I bought the game only, but a friend of boardgamegeek had sent me (very kind) the DeathZone rules that I'm reading right now. I know that the Living Rulebooks are better rules that make a better game, there is a Spanish Translation until LR 4.0 but the simplicity of the 1st ed is good for the group (that not all are gamers)...it's kind of weird I guess, but we love Orginal D&D (BAsic & Expert) and we hate the 3.0 3.5 Editions!
maybe the D&D 3.5 have better rules, but you can't roll out a character in five minutes, no you cant...

With regard to your question about the Referee counter, it was used as the "coin" to flip before the game to determine which team moved first (or if using the Death Zone supplement, to determine who kicked off). The counter has two sides, a "live" ref (pictured holding a soccer-style flag) and a "dead" ref (the ref lying flat on his back). Simply flip the counter into the air and call "live" or "dead." Whichever comes up decides who wins the "coin toss!"
Every season, I still use the Ref counter for my first home game, but it's purely ceremonial (and for some reason I always seem to lose when I perform this ritual...maybe because I let my opponent call it "live" or "dead"
)

It's been many years since I have played 1st edition, but I would say that LRB is easier to play than 1st!
I seem to remember that the 1st edition games (before deathzone came out) was a long slow bout of tackle then attack and repeat until nearly all the opposing team was down, then worry about the ball.
The Deathzone kickoff speed things up but games more often were ended due to death of team rather than 3 touchdowns scored!
LRB version is faster and you do not even need to worry about not having block dice, more then once we have used the following:
1 - Attacker Down
2 - Both down unless they have block
3,4 - Push back
5 - Defender down unless he has dodge
6 - Defender down.
That said I have just bought a 2nd edition box set on e-bay, just so I had every edition thus far. I'll have to dig out first edition for a trip down memory lane.
