Ogre Tacticum
Hi Folks,
I'm in the process of writing a detailed Ogre Tacticum / Playbook for LRB 5.0
I plan to include:
Analysis of Starting Lineups
Suggested Skill progressions for Ogres / Snotlings
Inducement analysis
Star Players analysis
Tactics versus each race, on offense and defense
General Ogre Plays (Throw team mate etc)
Managing Finances over the season
Is there anything else I should stick in?
Also how many people here play an Ogre team?

nothing crazy about that galak, given that you've taken halflings and done well...

A tourney roster that I consider pretty good:
Ogres x2
Snotlingsx 7
Brick and Grotty
Scrapa
Chainsaw
2 RR
For a total of 13 players. 3 ogres, 3 goblins (2 of them pretty good scorers) and 7 snotlings.
Field the Chainsaw in the first drive (either if you are kicking or receiving) if you are not facing a finesse team. If so..wait if you kick...or field him if you are receiving.
In the other side...field Scrappa as late as you can. He almost give you a sure TD.
Skills:
- Sneaky
- Diving Tackle
- Sneaky
- Diving Tackle
- Sneaky
Tactic: Hit and destroy.

They count as two players, but one Star choice. It makes them an interesting choice if you can afford the 290K banked to Induce them. As you get Nerves of Steel and Strong Arm on the Ogre + an AG4 Goblin. I've been trying to fit them into the Goblin team for a Tourney Roster. It's do-able at 1.1mil
(Note: you must have 2 slots open on your
roster to induce this duo which counts only as
one Star Player inducement)

Ah fudgsicles. They're not on the Goblin team star stable anymore. It's Varag instead. That sucks! I demand Varag be removed and Brick + Grotty be added instead. I've gone to all the effort of painting them and now I'm going to have to complete an Ogre team to use them.fen wrote:They count as two players, but one Star choice. Out of Interest what are peoples thought on skill progression for Ogres.
I'm off the opinion:
Doubles:
Block everytime, for 2nd doubles Strip ball or Leader
Normal:
Break Tackle - adds good maneuverabilty to the Ogres.
following this:
Stand Firm - a decent 2nd skill, makes it harder for people to seperate ogres
Guard - Good to give to 1-2 Ogres, especially if you keep them in groups of 2+
Grab: Have not really tried this yet
Piling On: Should get more casualties, and I've tried it in a few games, but have rarely had a time where re-rolling the dice is worth having my Ogre on the ground
Strong Arm: Nice as 3rd or 4th skill for a dedicated TTM player.
Multiple Block: With a snotling to run in and assist / cancel assists this can be quite effective.
Juggernaut: Again not a bad 3rd skill, and loses some effectiveness if the player later gets block.

I would give pass to an ogre on doubles if you do the TTM play often. I've played against a Halfling team with a pass Treeman, and it was a pain.
Another option for doubles on a Ogre is Pro. Not guaranteed reroll, but has a wider range of use. You can try to reroll Bonehead, blocks, passes, etc... In cases where you would not use a reroll.
