Our Dwarf coach had a deathroller dodge with Break Tackle, requiring anything but a one (rule of one & six) and rolled..... a one
My how we all laughed at him.

And every time he takes Grim Ironjaw as an inducement the poor slayer gets his ass handed to him very early in the game. So much so that we've renamed him Grim Glassjaw.

That sounds about right. Every time I get Grim on my team, he is either totally useless for the entire match, or gets removed early in the game, and watches from the sideline.

I havent bothered with the deathroller yet, havent had enough money to spare to deem him worthy of a purchase yet.

I found inducing a Merc Deathroller makes for a pretty good 'star player'. It's a large gap but a Bribe + Merc Deathroller with Break Tackle worked really well.

A merc deathroller with Multi block is pretty good too.......With ST7 it can be pretty useful. I dont have the rules in front of me, but I think the merc price is 30k over regular plus 50k for each additional skill. Receive opening kick, depending on the opponent team and set up you could do a lot of damage on the LOS. And dwarf coaches have been known to take 8 turns to score, so you might have the thing for a whole half. Plus if you have enough for a bribe also, it could be pretty awesome. But I think it would be one of my last purchases for a permanent team member cuz of its cost..........Just from a background and fluff perspective, Im really glad it is back (more active now that it can be a permanent member of a team).........There isnt any restrictions as far as what skills it can take aside from S on a single roll and anything else on a double roll? I cant remember if the no hands skill restricts people from giving assists or not...........Like I would think it would be hard for a guy holding a chainsaw to assist on a block.......

My understanding for assisting blocks is that just the menacing guy being there and close-by is enough of a distraction to assist the block. I know that if I had a guy with a chainsaw or a deathroller standing next to me and threating the chop/flatten me while I was being blocked, I'd be somewhat distracted.

Then, the no TZ rule when a Really Stupid or Bone Head roll fails goes against that theory. But then again, maybe the Troll is sitting on the ground picking his nose, which is not that menacing.

Ok, that makes sense............That description of a secret weapon assisting a block I can see. The deathroller has come a long way since the days of it moving on a random moving chart and had to start in the EZ. Most of the time it would never make it into the action..........

So my queston is that if you don't get the SPP for using a chainsaw, stabbing or bombs. Then why does the Cas on a Deathroller and Ball&chain get to count their CAS?

Because a deathroller and ball and chain attacks count as blocks, they are strength based attacks, and thus the chance to roll double /triple skulls can occur, only if the defender is knocked down do you get to roll for armour.

Weapons do not use the block dice they just roll for armour.

Bizarrely that's almost exactly what we do when the troll's fail Really Stupid, generally make some kind of sound like the yeti from the old WB cartoons, DUHHHHHH, I fink I will pick my nose.... Or stay here and look at the pretty fluffy clouds (if the troll's flat on his back) and whenever somebody's standing next to the troll to encourage him it's known as 'poking the troll' for the 2+ rather than 4+ roll.
