Should non N.A.F have to pay more
This is probably more suited to those of you who are not in the NAF and have no intention of joining but I would like to hear your views on if its justified that non NAF players pay premium on Tourney entry fee's whilst NAF registered players get a discount.

I'm "in NAF" but can't see that it is worth anything other than a set of colored dice... so I don't see the point in making things better for a subgroup of players....
NAF is of subminimal impact to Blood Bowl and its enjoyment... don't drive away other "non-joiners" by making NAF membership required....

I think it is best just to have the same price for NAF and non-NAF.
I know people that would occasionally take part in a tourney, but having to pay 25 Euro for one (because they also have to pay 10 Euro NAF) drives them off.
If the NAF somehow "sponsors" a tourney (prize package, certificates, etc.), then required NAF is OK.
But otherwise don't force people to become NAF-members.

Perhaps you see it as only worth a set of coloured dice because you refuse to see tourney discounts* as another benefit of joining?Vomit Lickspittle wrote:I'm "in NAF" but can't see that it is worth anything other than a set of colored dice... so I don't see the point in making things better for a subgroup of players...

Yes...the NAF does do that. Not at every tourney it's true and I cannot speak for all of the tournies around the world, but here in the UK, the NAF does help out quite a bit. For my understanding, this is stepping up as well as NAF gets more organised on the certificates, NAF match balls for each player, spot prizes and many of you have seen the new cast of a NAF trophy.Mootaz wrote:If the NAF somehow "sponsors" a tourney (prize package, certificates, etc.), then required NAF is OK.
However....I am happy to see all prices the same. No player should be forced to join and I understand that some may not want to.

I don't agree with tournaments that "force" non-NAF members to join, wheter they want to or not.
And if I attend 2 tourneys a year that include the NAF membership in the cost, does that mean I've extended my membership by 2 years?
But as a NAF member I'm happy to see tournaments that have a small (or large if they really want to
) discount for NAF members, especially if the NAF has helped with prizes.

No, because only non-NAF people get the free membership. You got your membership from the first tourney you entered, and so don't qualify from the second.Darkson wrote:I don't agree with tournaments that "force" non-NAF members to join, wheter they want to or not.

And btw, I am not advocating "forcing" people to join, rather just offering it as part of the ticket price, with an opt out if necessary. Who in their right mind would refuse if it was free? There is no good reason I can think of, you can just ignore it if you are not bothered and keep the dice.

In Germany you see a lot of "15 Euro, 25 for Non-NAF but NAF-membership included"
or
"15 Euro, 25 Euro non-NAF but you can become NAF-member at the tourney"
This is basically forcing people to become NAF-member and this should not be.
EDIT: I think giving people free NAF on their first tourney sounds like a nice option.

how about a part time membership?
ie naf ranking for a month and only pay a small fee included in the tourney price. Keeps the players who end up playing them happy and they new member gets a taster of the NAF website and other stuff, if they want to joing they just pay the little bit extra.

I think the deal inluding NAF membership makes sense and you get some great dice anyway so why wouldn't you want to Join?

i get some deals through work, but for stuff i don't want does that mean the people that want the stuff should not get it?Vomit Lickspittle wrote:I'm "in NAF" but can't see that it is worth anything other than a set of colored dice... so I don't see the point in making things better for a subgroup of players....
Why should a subgroup suffer because another subgroup want to get rid of something?
