Waterbowl Weekender 2007 - Where to stay

Post by Leipziger »

This list will enlarge, but a good place to start your search for accommodation for the 'Waterbowl Weekender' is here:

'The Crown & Anchor', 41 Hilton Street, Manchester, M1 2EE. Tel - 0161 228 1142

Prices: £25 single
£40 twin
£50 triple

The price includes breakfast.
It is within 5 minutes walking distance from the tournament venue. And with a pub downstairs, it is even closer to drink...

It is also within very easy walking distance of manchester piccadilly train station.

Other places worth checking out are:

Ibis Hotel
0161 234 0600
96 Portland St
Manchester, M1 4GX
0161 234 0600

Ibis Hotel
Charles St
Manchester, M1 7DG

Burton Arms Hotel - Manchester

Website: www.feathers.uk.com.
Email: willowbankhotel@feathers.uk.com
(Fallowfield is about 20-30 mins on the bus from town. Lots of buses though).

Travelodge routinely have special offers on too, so it is worth checking them out at http://www.travelodge.co.uk/

There are no Premier League matches on this weekend, but it might be FA Cup 4th Round/England International @ Old Trafford, so places at the bigger hotels may go quickly if this is the case.

Cheers

I was going to call Crown and Anchor about one of their singles, but since a shared triple would allow for 3 more pints I thought I'd throw this idea out here first. Anyone for sharing? I'm just thinking the single night as I live quite close to Manchester.

Odium, I'll be up for the Saturday night in a triple. I will also need to have a place for the Friday night (which is why I'm posting and not PMing). Any word on a third (or even if you have a full room)?

hmmmm interesting, i wonder if the trade descriptions people are aware that this spanish run guest house is actually run by people who sound like their eastern european immigrants. viva la capitalism!

The hotel formerly known as Chez Porritt is now full, sorry. Happy to help anyone else in arranging accommodation though.

Tempted to book into the he Crown & Anchor as a single rather than catch the train back to preston. If anyone wants to share with me let me know I PM'ed Rodder but I guess he's already sorted it. Is £25 the normal rate or do I have to book early or say I'm with Water Bowl.

<contemplates the comedy of answering "you have to state you're with the Waterbowl" and watching the ensuing carnage as Crown & Anchor have no idea what a "waterbowl" is, but unsure whether dazlamb is bigger and harder and can take a joke :D >

No, £25 is their normal rate. It's not a four star by any stretch, but it is, literally, round the corner. Sub-100 metres to the venue.
