For those who don't know, "The Challenge of Q'ermitt" is a tourney which features custom built boards that represent different races and geographical regions from around the world.
After last year's tourney, I made a poll on the Q'ermitt website that asked people what race they would like to see represented at this year's event. Dwarves won. Well actually, they were tied with wood elves, but I have more ideas for the dwarves so I went with them.
Here are the rules that I have come up with - would appreciate any and all feedback.
Dwarf Pitch:
The Playing Field:
The dwarf pitch is built underground on the only material that the dwarves consider to be “respectable and properâ€

The Weather Change result at 7 is going to be awfully boring given how uncommon the single weather effect is. It'd probably be better to make that weather result one of the unusual events on the kick-off table and just remove the changing weather result.
Downgrading the Brilliant Coaching and Cheering Fans results seems to devalue ACs and CLs, which aren't really very valuable to beging with, so unless you really want those slots for the other results, you should probably keep them at 6 & 8.
The Bomb would probably be more easily handled in the exact same way as Bombardier. The Mighty Blow and actual knockdown effects are decent, but I don't think they're important enough to warrant the discrepancy.
Does the Trollslayer continue to make blocks or just the one (+Frenzy)? When does he make them?
Love the Deathroller, but some randomness in direction might cause more interesting results. It seems a little easy to avoid as is.
Just realized you add Fan Factor to Bomb, is this running with an older version of the rules?

I'll take another look at that. Just did not want earth tremors for the whole game!Sithis wrote:The Weather Change result at 7 is going to be awfully boring given how uncommon the single weather effect is. Hmmm... I'll give that some more thought
I'm sorry I don't follow. Which discrepancy?Sithis wrote:The Bomb would probably be more easily handled in the exact same way as Bombardier. The Mighty Blow and actual knockdown effects are decent, but I don't think they're important enough to warrant the discrepancy.
Yeah, he blocks until taken off the pitch (by casualty or drive end). I will put in some clarification. It will be Coach A Coach B trollslayer.Sithis wrote:Does the Trollslayer continue to make blocks or just the one (+Frenzy)? When does he make them?
I don't want any kick of result to be too distracting from a regular game of BB. Also by going in a styraight line it allows players to tactuacally plan hits (by knocking the players down in the path of the DR)Sithis wrote:Love the Deathroller, but some randomness in direction might cause more interesting results. Good catch! Yeah, I lifted the rules from my Chaos Dwarf pitch. Last used it was under LRB4. will fix that.
Thanks again Sithis!

Well if earth-tremors become a kickoff result then it's a one-off result not unlike Pitch Invasion. If you look at it taking the place of Pitch Invasion you might want to make it a little more common than 1 in 6 (since it doesn't stun). Perhaps roll Agility+1 and characters with Stand Firm or Sure Feet are immune, or roll either Agility+1 or Strength+1. Feels like the shaking ground shouldn't treat all characters equally.Craigtw wrote:I'll take another look at that. Between your version of bomb effects and the effects of Bombardier. It sounds more like this is a Bombardier in the crowd than something truly different, so no MB on the target, adjacent players get knocked over in their own squares, and even possibly catching and throwing of the bomb.I'm sorry I don't follow. Which discrepancy?Sithis wrote:The Bomb would probably be more easily handled in the exact same way as Bombardier. LRB5 wrote:When the bomb finally does explode any player in the
same square is Knocked Down, and players in adjacent squares are
Knocked Down on a roll of 4+. Players can be hit by a bomb and treated
as Knocked Down even if they are already Prone or Stunned. Make
Armour and Injury rolls for any players Knocked Down by the bomb.
