Should "funny" teams such as stuntys be competativ

Post by duff »

If they were competative, could we treat playing them as a laugh or would we find ourselves trying to win?

The mad dodges, easy deaths and secret weapons could still give the funny, even if the team can win

They only need to be competitive to a point.

They're almost there right now, they're fine in the early points of the league where Block, Tackle and Mighty Blow aren't major staples.

Later on, it's a different matter. Stunties dying is funny, up to a certain level, then it just becomes an SPP farm for the opposition.

Still, nothing compares to the comedy of the Goblin Chainsaw kickbacking itself to death.

Indeed, up to a point, just return the master chef to the halflings so that they're not completely useless and all is fine.

They do need to be competitive to a point, so they do have a fighting chance. And all the stunty teams should be very competitive with each other.

One of the reasons I play stunties is that I don't expect myself to win. So there is no stress, just fun. If they were more competitive, then I'd expect to win more, hence they would start to play like the other teams.

I like them as they are, except for the nerfed master chef.

My main reason for playing them, also.

I don't think they need to be considered competitive, but they should not be hopeless either.

I totally agree with Xtreme here! I think it was really funny to play flings and goblins under LRB 4 condition. They won't win so much matches but they were fun to play. But under the LRB 5 it seems that the Goblins got a boost. Because they can add the secret weapons to the roster. Ok they only play one drive and then they are gone. But it was fun having them for one drive.

What is expected from Flings? They are not fun to play because they are totally hopeless. Perhaps this belongs only to my dices.

What about.....

as with Ogres on an Ogre team let the Goblins Trolls lose really Stupid and replace it with Bonehead. Sort of like when your lil' woman nags and nags you for years, you end up listening without thinking, same could work for the troll / goblin relationship.

add that to the proposed change to Right Stuff affecting Blocks and they could work with more chances...

that said I voted no, as I only play Halflings when I want to give the rest of the league a chance to bash / beat me for a change.

i voted no, however i think there is room for abit more competitiveness, eg postional catchers...
for +10k give 0-4 (or even 0-6) stunties +1MA and catch.

maybe a bit useful... 50k for
6237 dodge, stunty, r/s, catch...
but in the context of the team, it makes them a bit better...

EDIT: sorry gobbos are already MA6...
7237...

I'd prefer gobbo foulers and halfling thiefs. (dirty player and strip ball/sure hands)

Just wondering, is there a reason, fluff or otherwise (i.e. miniature support), why halfings don't get positionals? I'm not trying to argue for them, but since I found out that Gobbo's now had secret weapons on their roster I've wondered why flings were left homogeneous?

not that my voice is worth too much at the moment.
however I think in a game all options should have some chance of winning, and thus be competitive.

I cant see uncompetitive as being paralel with funny really. but goofy skills would, even if these make them harder to master.

not sure it makes sense what I just said :)

Back in 2e, both Halflings and Goblins had Catchers & Liners. Only the Catchers had Right Stuff.
