Catching a bomb while holding the ball

I've been looking for a rule that clarifies whether or not you can catch or intercept a bombadiers bomb or cloned ball while carrying a ball. This will be a fairly rare occurance, but it has come up a couple of times. Any answers out there I've missed.

You can catch or intercept and throw a bomb while holding the ball.
You cannot catch intercept or pickup a cloned ball if you are already holding one.

Just to back it up :

Bombadier skill (p.43)
"A player holding the ball can catch or intercept and throw a bomb."

Don't know what this "cloned ball" is though..
