Wrestle on low movement players???
Hi!
I know this has been debated before, but would u consider wrestle on low movement players or just line fodder in general. My zombies are generally used to just stand in the way of black orcs and the likes, and i was considering giving some wrestle as a first skill (need one with kick first though!). Eg. a black orc/chaos warrior blocks my zombie, we are wrestled to the ground and in my next turn I can move him one square away from the Bob/warrior and he will be unable to block him again. If they both had block my zombie would go down sooner or later. Isn't wrestle meant to be the perfect sacker/line fodder skill?
Just a thought...

Well yeah it's nice against sure hands, but imagine playing elves and putting that on ur linos. This way when the oppo blocks u, u can wrestle him to the dirt and stand up without having to dodge in ur subsequent turn. I dunno it's just a thought. I saw I guy use the tactic very efficiently and I thought, hey a zombie or two might do the job and piss of the big guys/BoB/ST4 guys that think of them as sure knockdowns. On the other hand they lose their tz and u don't get SPP's..

I've just about decided to solve the Big Guy vs Zombie problem with Dauntless... then, of course, I have a Guard Zombie to help.... Just a thought....DamianTheLost wrote:Well yeah it's nice against sure hands, but imagine playing elves and putting that on ur linos. I have just started my first LRB5 league and took pro-elves on the basis that I think fend and wrestle will do alot to minimise the damage taken by elves... I will be giving those skills to my line fodder guys.
Played 3 games so far, and havent got a skill up on my linos... but I am 2 wins out of 3 games.

Hi There - For those of you that have been reading the thread "Help - My Dark Elves keep losing" You'll know that I've been pondering about Wrestle.
I asked the same as you - "Would it be a good idea if....."
For some reason the answer is always - why not take block?
So can we finally hash this out. When, in what situation, is it a good idea to take wrestle!?.
The only one I can think off right now is on a dedicated sacker - i.e the Ball Carrier may have block so wrestle would be good then.
So come on the experts - when is wrestle useful?

Not sure I count as an expert but here goes...
There are, IMO, two (broad types of) players who benefit from Wrestle.
1. The Ball Sacker. Fast player, often with Tackle, Strip Ball, Leap etc. Prince Moranion is a good example. Main mission is to get where the ball carrier is, get the ball off him (by Strip Ball or putting him on the ground) enabling another player (or himself perhaps) to steal the ball.
Secondary uses are putting the opponents key players on their backs enabling you to gang foul.
2. The Vulnerable Defensive Player. Mainly of use against slow cagey grindy teams. Often combined with Fend, Dodge, etc. Good use for a couple of Thralls, Pro Elf/WElf Lineman etc
These guys stand a couple of squares away from the advancing cage (in the way obviously) and wait to get hit. When they are blocked they hope for a both down or to stay on their feet and get pushed. If they go down, so does their opponent which leads you free to get up step back one space and repeat until opponent loses will to live. And you could get a foul in.
If you get a push, Fend will stop them following up and still slow the cage.
There might be others but thats the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Sorry, couldn't help it.
Actually, I didn't really think much of wrestle until I ran up against line fodder that used the skill. It was the most irritating thing to have to deal with and has really made me appreciate the skill for Ian's reason: suddenly opening up unexpected holes. Maybe it's because it's just a new skill, but it really seems to catch many opponents unawares and slow down their drive or defensive push.

I smoosh these guys into the turf with a Block, Juggernaut, Mighty Blow, Tackle Blitzer type.PubBowler wrote:2. The Vulnerable Defensive Player. Mainly of use against slow cagey grindy teams. Often combined with Fend, Dodge, etc. Good use for a couple of Thralls, Pro Elf/WElf Lineman etc
