Retire a Tree with ? nigglings
On my Welf team I have a tree with 2 niggling injuries...how many would it take before I should think about sacking him? He has guard already, and my team hovers between 12 and 13 players, but he's gone down with regularity in the games he's been in, and has never once (not once!) stood up when he's gone down, damn 4+ roll! Thoughts?

I assume you want to have a tree in your team, despite his inability to stand, and right now he's still ok at his role becuase of his high AV. He might be even better now as two niggling injuries might entice opponents who otherwise, quite sensibly, ignore the player to have a go as he is easier to kill.
I'd keep him until I saved up for replacement or he dies/gets a serious injury which actually effects him. He's still better than a mercenary (even though they have Loner too) and he fulfills a very different role to the other Stars that a WElf side can take.

This is prob a good idea...I've found that a few turns of falling down, being fouled, and missing the rest of the game isn't worth the now 140k TV boost. When he dies, I'll just take a couple more lineelves for the LOS, and keep it lean.Snew wrote:You have seen first hand why a Tree does not belong on a WElf team. You know what to do. Do it. 10 "deadly and surgically fast" players on the team is still more than enough; having one big slow obstacle helps keep the 10 surgeons going longer, and makes for a wonderful distraction.

And if you face not-so-foolish coaches they will ignore the Tree, and have only 10 AV7 players to deal with.PubBowler wrote:A treeman sitting on the LOS is a great casualty soak for a W.Elf team. And if your opponent is foolish enough to block him over, and waste time fouling him, then thank him nicely by running in half dozen touchdowns with your less picked on team members.
In LRB4 I was a great proponent of the Tree, but in LRB5 he just wastes TV.

I started a team with a tree and sacked him after three games. Trees SUX. I would rather have a lineelf with two regular skills than a tree any day. And if your team isn't turning over too many players, then Woodies TV tends to creep up pretty fast with all the TD's the team racks up. So IMHO stop giving away another 140K worth of inducements.

If your team is successful you will score lots. If you score lots you will kick lots. If you kick lots then your opponent gets lots of freen blocks against your weak line of scrimmage. A Treeman makes one less player to be removed easily from the LOS and getting guard will help protect the two sacrificial lambs either side of him, or force the opponent to use more/better players to beat them up.
