I missed this thread before and only seen it thanks to others resurecting it. Also, I saw a comment from voyagers I couldnt see you answered - what is your environment effectively, a 10 game season? 20 games? There is a big difference there.... I can only answer on the basis you will be playing 10-20 gamesnugget911 wrote:I am thinking of staying away from Dark Elf. I would be happy with any and all help with Elf, High Elf, or Wood Elf.....what config and the best way to play them. Thanks
My view-- (and played them all at least 10 games in a league format but only DE's in LRB5 I must add).
Woodies - for me still the best of the 4 in leagues. Yes they will die, yes they start slowly as TR100 you can only start with a poor team. But get 6-7 games in and avoid too many deaths, they get awesome. From then on, they scare all but the foolish.
DE's - you said stay away from them but my 13 game (11-2-0) season that has just finished with them tells me they are VERY handy. But.. you dont want them.
Helves - agree with whoever it was said they AG4 Humans.... but something does seem to be missing. Even the best of the coaches seem to struggle over a sustained period of 10-20 games. Granted someone will answer this with thier Uber season but on the whole, they somehow come out 4th of the 4
Elves - to me, these guys are about death or not. If they get a good start heaven help the rest of the league because I have won 5-0, 5-1, 4-2 on 3 back to back games with them without freaky dice. Once the catchers get dodge it's MV8, catch 2's regardless, 2+ dodge with skill and any GFI to score. There is only so much you can do in defense if your oppo doesnt roll ones. Then in defense you have blodging sidestep blitzers and also ST3 everywhere.
I suspect after 10 games or so you would have a sneaky git/Dirty player for 60K, maybe 2 if you havent had deaths, which wont be fun for the oppo. Granted fouling has all but ceased in LRB5 but still, thats a nasty combo.
my final comment would be --Woodies still rock. Your nerves are on edge every time a man goes down but they do the impossible and above all, never forget this, they are fun to play. That above all, is why you should be playing the game after all.
