Talk about a difference.......the whole style of play changed from movement, skill values, assists on fouls and blocks became more difficult to acheive. I guess I have to say it changed the nature of the game significantly. It was fun and challennging, however, balance of the teams was changed. To be honest, it wasn't "BloodBowl", but a parady of it. We'll probably try it again in the near future, but only as a change up.
NOTE: We have a tendancy to experiment with variations in the rules to see how they work. For instance we've modified the Dungeon bowl rules to use with LRB5 and it is usually a blast when we have 3-4 teams romping through a dungeon. We've also experimented with random player activation using the variant at specialist games. IT to makes the game play quite a bit different.
While we haven't tried the additional cost for diagonal movement, it has been discussed and we will probably give it a try on one of our regular Blood Bowl days. But despite what we try, we always go back to the LRB5 for the majority of our play.
And Guys, give the original poster a break. He must be a die hard fan or he wouldn't have made an effort to post. He's also experimenting in trying new things. Most new systems and improvements come from just these types of experiments. Some of them work, some don't. But remember, he is trying.

Thank you.

Its a clunky suggestion, but it was for verisimiltude. The hex board doesn't sit well with me, and I don't have difficulty counting 2 squares on every other diagonal. Oh well, its not like anyone
has to play with it.
