new league Undead team

Post by voyagers_uk »

A friend is joining the league and loves undead

he is fairly experienced but has not played for a couple of years so he wanted impartial adviceas to his starting roster, which as a main opponent I would rather came from others......

he has so far ideas as follows

Option 1
2 mummies
2 wights
3 Ghouls
3 skellies
2 Zombies
3 rerolls
FF 1

Option 2
2 Mummies
2 Wights
4 Ghouls
2 Skellies
1 Zombie
3 Rerolls
FF 1

Option 3
2 Mummies
2 Wights
2 Ghouls
4 Skellies
1 Zombie
4 Rerolls
FF 2

Other teams in the league
Lizardman
Pro Elf
Necro
Norse * 2
Orc
Halfling
Vampire
& perhaps a chaos team (uncertain)

pure LRB 5.0

viewed as a long term league i.e. more than 15 matches in a season, cups would be separate.

Forgot to mention, his first match is against a Norse team that has already played 2 games so he will get 130k in Inducement cash.

I'd also go for 4 Rerolls but I would consider to loose one Skeleton and upgrade the remaining Skeletons to Zombies. This would mean you only have 11 but more durable players. You can easily stock-up on players later and there's still a chance to receive some Zombies for free :D . Then for the first game induce the chainsaw-starplayer (I don't have the rulebook available atm so I don't have the costs) he's great against Norse (AV7 anyone 8)? ): Use him on offense, take your time and if he's still around at the end of the half use him to foul for the last few turns as he'll be sent off anyhow.

Cheers

losing a player from that option only leaves 10 players?

Oops  , got confused with the first option which had a starting line-up of 12 players...

So, I'd go for Option 3 but would still induce the chainsaw for the first game.

Option three for me, not forgetting that you can sack skeletons after game 1 and get journeyman zombies to sit on the line if you need.

As for the inducements, it might be worth taking one less FF, banking 10k picking up 140k which means Budweiser Babe and Hack Enslash.

Just a thought...

admirable, I wouldn't have thought of that....

but then again I am still getting used to FF being this low.

I wouldn't have thought of that too... That's an intersting idea, but you have to be aware that you only get Journeymen if you're below 11 players. If you sack them it takes longer to go to 13-14 players which I think is a number of players that Undead should aim for (esp. to have a reserve for fouling).

I personally started with (and our league was 1050k to spend)

2 Mummies (220k)
2 Wights (180k)
2 Ghouls (140k)
4 Zombies (160k)
2 Skeles (60k)
4 re rolls (280k)
1 FF (10k)

for a total of 1050k. But i have struggled to get to grips with the undead as a team, and they have therefore not really progressed within our league. A couple of deaths to my big players (a wight and a mummy) so im now thinking of jacking them in. They have the potential to be great but unfortunately i havent brought it out of them.

well he took option 3 reduced FF to 1 as suggested and took Hacn Enslash and the babe

He rolled 4+ on all his KO rolls so the Babe was unnecessary and although Hack Enslash put the Troll on his wet Furry behind twice he achieved only Stuns before the Norse KO'd his @ss.

Mummies pitched with 3 casualties between them, two of which were MNG

However the lack of real ball carrying players allowed the Norse to bog them down in midfield and run out 3-0 winners

MVP went to a Mummy and normal skill choice is pointing at Guard as the initial skill

3 other players on 2 spp's

Winnings only 20k though so no new player yet and no Undead player failed a regen roll, so despite 3 Casualties caused by the Norse they squad is still at 11.

good game and the scoreline flattered the Norse who now have a squad of 10 + Journeyman for next game (although still undecided whether to buy an Ulf as that would put the cash in the treasury into the Team Value.

the loss didn't up the FF either.

no, but that is just another thing that he mentioned..... last time he played FF could go up even if he lost his arguement that the fans could see he tried to win and would support the underdog in him....

with FF of 1 he needs a win to move up, he just found it awkward
