Got a great idea and/or proposal for BloodBowl?

I apologize, Snew. I'm touchy about my ideas because I only post them because I think they are good. When you were telling me that I was wrong about the % chance, I knew that I wasn't and flew off the handle. I'm sorry.

Here's something that I don't get. If other people don't like the standard KOTable, what are we doing about it? Is it a "ain't broke, don't fix it" or what?

I like the standard KO Table, I think after years it's now got the right balance of fun, potency and randomness.

There's a couple of minor changes I'd make to the table, but overall, I like it as it is.
I certainly wouldn't be wanting to take results away.

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

I gave it one star.

I think there should be the possibilty to change the weather, this is as mentioned by others a funny part. And although Blood Bowl is a strange game, I think it does make sense, that on most Kick Off's nothing happens.
I don't like this card thing either, it is way too unhandy and slows down the whole process. You could also use another dice there.

I think the IGMEOY is dicussed elsewhere, as for the new LRB there has to be a rule involving the ref. I would like a ref result, where he especially looks on one team. We all now ref's do this in real soccer.

I haven't seen a good LRB style table. Also, you ran into a little historical TBB tension inadvertently on this thread with some words around Cards which would explain some reactions so don't take it personal.

So there are lots of people who don't like cards in BB?

I'm torn on the subject personally. I was sad to see the old cards go, but I felt they were horrible as a handicap mechanic. On the other hand, I feel sometimes that perhaps BB is a bit too predictable now. It used to be when you moved your player into the end zone, you had that moment of trepidation, as you look at your opponent. "It IS a TD, right?"

I like the compromise rule that Galak introduced me to right before LRB5 came out...I'll share it here because you might appreciate it as well.

His rule was that coaching staff could get cards. In other words, for every cheerleader on your permanent roster roll a d6 - if you get a 6, your team gets a random event - max 1. Do the same for every asst. coach, except they will get you a dirty trick - max 1. When you freeboot a team wizard for 150,000, you also get a free magic item, you don't even have to roll.

That way cards are still in the game to provide a touch of quirkiness, plus you make the coaches a little more valuable, something that was often a little weak in most editions of BB, without letting cards take over the game, and without the handicap aspect.

And that was the biggest complaint. a single card could turn the game and/or end one team's hopes of winning. They were poorly thought out and powerful! The game has changed. It may not be all better for it but it got better for a little while anyway.

Could we avoid turning this thread into a discussion on Cards? I know it'd be nice to go back to the same arguments and start flaming each other but I think it'd be better if we didn't.

On the topic, my kick-off table is very different of course but I have the randomiser in the form of an Intervention of the Chaos Gods result. This is 1/36 for me so you could have it at 2 or 12 in this table. It leads to another roll to get some capital K crazy results. I think another dice is better than some other format for kickoffs.

discussed this with my mate Gary on our way to Colchester Zoo on Sunday [Family day out] - He designed one that we used for a season, we will find it and post it for review. it was D66 table with separate sections that had results for Kicking team, receiving team, cheerleaders, asst coaches etc
