Yes Snew, it does.
So about the only time an underdog would decide to use his own money, is if he got to much money and really wanted to play a star player and didn't mind giving it to the oppenent at a reduced amount.
Or he will use money, but it will only put him 10 to 40K over the overdog so the overdog can't use anything, not worth it.

A fair and reasonable system is/was needed to even the playing field (at least somewhat)....
Taking out some of the flexibility of the current system would ease the fuss of this thread.... Spend what money you will between matches and even up with inducements, only to even the TV, for the underdog... period... at game time....
The current system keeps all of the spending "within the game"... and allows for some flexible, and possibly confusing, juggling of money....
JUST letting the underdog spend up to the difference would seem reasonable... or am I missing something...?

This seems to be the point of confusion... if the underdog spends ANYTHING then he reduces the amount of inducements given to him... He can't overspend in this manner....zephard wrote:Or he will use money, but it will only put him 10 to 40K over the overdog so the overdog can't use anything, not worth it.
The underdog could only "overspend" by spending an equivalent amount out of treasury (equal to what he would've got in inducements) and then adding.... A rare and seemingly wasteful use of treasury....
Example: An incredibly rich human team is underdog by 420,000 .... But they REALLY want Morg N Thorg.... So the humies spend 430,000 of THEIR OWN MONEY to get Morg and they FOREGO, i.e., LOSE all inducements for the game....
Another Example: The same situation as above but the humies are only 380,000 down... they buy Morg with their own money and wind up giving the once overdog team 50,000 to use....
Remember that money is moved before inducements are figured out and taken so wind up affecting TV before spending

Another example, would be a goblin team really wants Nobbla Blackwart, and is the underdog by 60K, but has 100K in the treasury. So they move that money into petty cash. Then they can hire Nobbla, but is only giving away 40K in inducement money.
Where as if the underdog pulls out money from their treasury into petty cash that makes them the overdog, then the inducements would go to the new underdog.
Petty cash is done before inducement money is figured out.
So after rereading the rules while writing this. Does Petty Cash added to TV when determining inducement money? Treasury doesn't but that is not Petty Cash.
My example would be, the underdog is under the overdog by 10 to 40K so he puts into petty cash 50K to get a BB babe. That only allows the overdog (who is now the underdog as far as inducements) between 40 to 10K of inducement cash.Vomit Lickspittle wrote:[

About finding out what inducements you like and getting quicker as you play more. I play in a decent sized tabletop league. The most fanatic teams have about 10 games under their belt now (we started LRB 5 in september). The most fanatic players will have played about 20 matches with 2 or three teams.
Out of those 10 games they would on average be underdog 5 times. Most of the time they have no inducements or perhaps 1 bloodweiser babe. That leaves at most 2 games for serious inducements! How are people ever going to figure out which inducements they like.
So far I think the more fanatic players have hired stars for one or two matches (unless they play stunties). Mostly after spending a lot of time thinking about how to spend their inducement money. I have playerd about 20 LRB 5 league games so far and hired a starplayer once and two wood-elf catchers for another match. That's it. For the rest it's just an occasional bloodweiser babe.
It takes a lot of games to get used to inducements. The rules are meant for perpetual leagues of fanatic coaches, while the average (tabletop) BB player only plays one game a month. While the rules were designed it was forgotten that FUMBBL is the exception, not the rule.
