To +ST or not to +ST (Snow Troll)

Post by Buggrit »

I rolled a double 6 on my first increase for Fluffy (my snow troll) Under normal circumstances (if he were a ST 3 or ST 4 player) I'd go with the ST increase but is it worth going from 5 to 6 when Block is a doubles only skill?

Also going up to ST 6 makes him a bigger target for other teams and raises his value to 190k

I'm thinking of giving him Block with this (useful as that's mainly what he does, block and blitz with his frenzy) and then MB for his next improvement but welcome any thoughts on this.
Cheers, Buggrit

Take the strength. With only one assist you have 3D blocks most of the time. Only if Nuffle pulls your leg (I admit, he does that often) you'll get a bad result. Juggernaut next and you have a great player! :P

I'd rather have a 2D block with the certainty that unless I roll a skull (or my opponent has wrestle, which isn't likely) I'm going to stay on my feet than have the opportunity of making 3D blocks where if I roll Both Downs and nothing else then I'll be going down (either on my own or with my opponent)

It´s hard. With Strength you can hunt other Big Guys, but with a double 6... you can take Wrestle or Block. But I would take Strength, because you can throw a double next time too, then you can take Block ^^ But a double 6 is harder to get (I must know, one of my Blitzers has Strength 4 after getting Sure Hands...)

I'd go with the strength.

Ice trolls with thier low AV tend to get hunted. With ST6 the opponent must commit more resources to do this, he will either have to leave big holes in his defence or abandon going after the troll altogether leaving the troll free to do some hunting of his own...

Always take extra STR.... :P ....this is soooo good gives you more 3 dice rolls and Block is far easier to get in the future than another 12!!

I think block at 30k is much better than 50k of strength 6 with no block. A second doubles rolled could be turned into +av (if 10) or +1 ST (if 6,6)
or 4 times out of 6 a skill like jump up, side step, or dodge.

At two dice which ST 5 gets vs st 3 with one assist and block the odds are still better than throwing 3 dice to knock the guy down.

And I'd rather be St 5 Blodge or ST 5 block and sidestep for the sidelines all the time then have to get an assist against a lone st 3 guy for 3 dice mine.

But that is me. To each his own.

I think it's a hard choice, but I'd always go strength. Simply put, it's better defensively. Maybe not for the Ice Troll, but for the team as a whole. The more resources devoted to hitting the Ice Troll, the safer the rest of the team is.

Also, Str3+ dauntless is now very risky against him. And if you ever go up against induced Strength 6 or 7 stars, you'll have an option to take them down. Plus you can get Juggernaught for him on his next advance, which combines with the Frenzy nicely. Of course you'll waste 1 out of 6 blitzes...

1 in 36 Chance to get a + Str. Upgrade... + Str works in ALL situations

The odds of any doubles Roll 1 in 6...

There is a reason the + Str. Adds that much more value to the player... it's worth it.

Take the extra ST; it commits an extra player to take him down and the pyschological effect is useful too. Definitely take +ST.

str sounds good to me. Throw in gaurd or multiple block next and he's a beast and a half. I hear claw + mighty blow is good too.

ST for sure. MB is too good of a combo with claws to pass up next though. Then multi block and finally Guard.(assuming no doubles).

I guess giving Fluffy ST 6 and then giving one of my Lino's Guard and having her shadow him to provide assists.... It could work.

Okay I capitulate... St 6 it is. (besides it'll make it harder for other big guys to take me on knowing that even if they get 2 both downs I still break armour on an 8, although so will they if they have mighty blow)

I think I would take the block. Its true, that with STR 6 its even harder to block him, but most players will block him anyway with 2 dice against, when he has no block.

If another double is rolled sidestep is nice, or tackle. On normal rolls give mighty blow, standfirm, and guard.

Multible Block wont work, since this player has frenzy.
