Ring of Teleportation TD Timing

Post by Warpstone »

Here's one that came up during a PbEM game between Zephard and I:

After the end of my turn, I played ring of teleportation on a ball-carrying Runner to hopefully get him out of the reach of Zephard's defenders. I rolled a 6, which was actually enough to put the runner into the end zone square. Now what's got us a bit confused is the timing of the TD.

When does the TD happen, and what do we do with the turn markers?

a) it counts in between turns and we leave the turn markers as they are and I kickoff.

b) Zephard effectively loses his turn as the TD is called as soon as his turn starts. We move his turn marker up, but since I'm kicking, I have to move mine up too, so we've each lost a turn before the kick off.

c) Zephard gets one action, but unless he knocks the ball loose (he can't since my runner is out of range), it's a TD immediately after this action and I lose a turn on my kickoff.

Option A is wrong as per page 15 in the rulebook and I'm pretty sure that we should do C. I've never been in this position before (where the TD is made in between turns) and hope I interpreted it right.

I'm pretty sure it's option B. The player teleports from the card between turns and then play resumes as normal. As it's Zephard's turn that starts next a TD is scored, it ends his turn and counts as scoring during your opponents turn for you (so you also lose a turn).
LRB5 p 17 - Scoring in your opponents turn wrote:In some rare cases a team will score a touchdown in the opponent’s turn. For example, a player holding the ball could be pushed into the End Zone by a block. If one of your players is holding the ball in the opposing team's End Zone at any point during your opponent's turn then your team scores a touchdown immediately, but must move their Turn marker one space along the Turn track to represent the extra time the players spend
celebrating this unusual method of scoring!
It's an immediate TD during your opponents turn, TDs only at the end of an action during your own.
