Skilling up Mummies in tournies

Post by King-Nerd »

I am thinking about using Mummies in an upcoming tournie and wondered what people thought would be good skill choices.

During the tournie we get 3 "normal" skills which you can choose plus 6 random which could include doubles (no stat +).

Any random doubles will be Block but as for choosing or random normal skills the choice is less exicting. I figure going PO, Guard, Stand firm and possible Juggernaut in that order, but I dont really think any of them are worth one of my three chosen player skills.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :?:

I'd go Guard before PO, he's aleady got MB, so will deal out the damage and with enough guard, your opo will find it difficult to out-strength you. A Pilled-on Mummy on the floor won't help you much the next turn.

Would you go Guard on all mummies if the rolls went that way or would you mix it up?

Khemri can afford piling on if you are facing lots of elf teams. If a lot of bashy teams take guard. For undead, go guard without a doubt. Undead need their mummies for support, they're no good lying down.

Undead? Maybe. 2 Mummies with Guard and a Zombie is a lot like 3 rookie Mummies. Guard rocks all to hell if you've only got one or two guys with it and you'd want to put them on the d-line. It's better for a tackle than an end, though, and while Mummies are the best nose tackles in the game (except maybe Treemen), the 0-2 availability makes them popular defensive ends, with Zombies usually used to fill in the tackle position(s). If you're considering an oblique line, you can get one with Guard and another with Stand Firm, and you can give your opponents all kinds of fits of indecision as to which direction they're headed. Of course, Block is Block, and that's what you should take with doubles on a Mummy. In that case, get Guard on the other one.

Khemri? The first one would get Guard for sure. If I had 2, both would get Guard. If I had 3 increases, I'd take 1 nose-tackle with Guard and 2 ends with Stand Firm (or Block, if available) or 2 DTs with Guard and use the rest of your skills to get Block on Skels.

Do you have any way to get a 2nd skill? PO is good on Blitz-Ras or Wights in conjunction with MB. I wouldn't put it on a Mummy. If I got a 2nd skill on a Mummy, I'd go for Juggernaut (tackle) or either Grab or Multiple Block (end); if the second skill were doubles, it would be Block, of course. Doubles then a normal roll would be Block-Guard or Block-Stand Firm. If I somehow got doubles twice, I'd go Block-Frenzy.

I'm glad to hear you love playing defense. If your offense is good enough, defense is all that matters.
