Why won't my Avatar work?

I have spent 10 minutes trying to make it work. It's a small jpg, under 6 kb, small dimensions (right click to see, it's below 80x80) I've uploaded from my PC and also hosted on photobucket, but I can't make it work. I've seen a few people here with red x as their Avatar, what's the problem? Can anyone suggest an avatar that will work for me?

Does it works if you link it from the photobucket file? Or is just here the trouble is? It seems the file wasn't uploaded correctly, so I would go with a linked photo from some site that allows that kind of thing.

You have to use the link to another website option. Copy the URL info into the empty line (3rd option) and it should work.
I'm afraid the upload function does not work.

Absolutely no idea (and there's a thread about this somewhere).

Something technical somewhere isn't working properly, which is as about as indepth as I can go and understand.

Some people seem to be able to change their avatars whenever they feel like, some can get one to work and then can't change it, others just can't get it to work at all.

I had the same problem, nothing would work for me. I uploaded my avatar on my own webspace and on two different imagehosters, but still it didn't work.

Then I've started to PM every Admin who was seen online:
GalakStarscraper - no idea
Valen - no idea
Darkson - no idea
Thadrin - fixed the problem !

Perhabs you should PM him too, and perhabs those other Admins should ask Thadrin what he did to fix my avatar.
