3rd Double for a Treeman.

Post by Mad Jackal »

That's right. The Gaston Rebels' Treeman Lurch Longbough just earned his 3rd skill and it too was a doubles roll. He's already got Block and Jump Up. and though I want Grab or piling on I don't think I need them enough to ignore the doubles.

Originally I was looking at Dodge or Sure feet or Leader, but then I remembered I need doubles to get the General Chart too.

Now I'm looking at Pro to help stop the rooting.

With 170,000 in the bank from the Chaos Cup winnings and this last match's winnings (loss and tie respectively) I think I'm going to turn-over the injured WarDancer. which should leave me at about 190 TV..

The team can be found here.

What do you think the 3rd doubles should be and why ?

(double 3's so we're not talking armor or move or strength..)

If you won the Chaos Cup, get tentacles or claw. Pro is also a great choice, and so is dodge. I'm not sure about your league, but Tackle should also be considered.

Pro... makes him more mobile if he's got at least a reroll to prevent rooting....

My Aussie friends ask, "why would you spend a re-roll to prevent rooting?" Now using pro to avoid taking root, that I get. :smoking:

Pro for sure. Any player with loner should get pro when given the opportunity. Take it take it take it! Use it to reroll JU, bad blocks, GFIs, and of course Take Root. Perfect choice!

I think I'd go Frenzy. Now he has block he's pretty reliable (3 Dice most of the time) and two blocks would make him real efficient and make him a bit more mobile without adding to his take root burden.

Only problem with this is then he can't take Grab which is the best skill a rooted treeman can have...

Using DT should uproot the tree - and would be very useful against other fast teams who would just try and avoid the tree.

Pro is generally the best .. dodge would be interesting in a bash heavy league because you make him that much harder to knock over.

This is the post match of the match after the Choas Cup. I did not win the chaos cup or this match you'd have to see the game file. What a treat. It took my undead opponent until only a few turns into the 2nd half to have my entire team off the pitch. Mind you he was getting only one blitz per turn (and no blocks). But he averaged a player a turn removal anyway.

It is the MBBL and I play at the top of the League Standings, or against young teams loaded with star inducements / chainsaws , and bribes -so yes, it is pretty bash heavy. Which is definatelty a pull to dodge.

Frenzy I considered, but I can not frenzy if I have rooted, and I do need grab to assist the OTS and control the scrum.

Diving Tackle may not be used by a rooted tree. No skill that allows you to move from your square (frenzy or pass block for examples) or go prone (wrestle or diving tackle or Piling on) may be used by the tree while rooted.

IF your player wrestles my tree to the ground, then I'm freed. But I can't go prone by my action. So either I need to use Pro to make me root less or dodge to make me fall less.

I mainly use my Tree to try and keep Elves from dying on the LOS and to tie up opponents. I don't roll for blocking very often with the jump-up as I want him standing without a roll. The Wood Elves don't win by attrition and the tree is there to tie people up and or attract attention...

Keep the suggestions coming, and the discussion I'm still torn.

AFAIK, amazonians are not undead. All credit does go to Helmut Wolf however, who managed three BH and some ko's (of the top of my head).

As to the skill, If tying up is your game, give him dodge and hope your opponent commits his tacklers to your tree.

Hi Jack

I feel for you. I decided to challenge his team with me elves. In 3 turns in and he has broken armour 5 of 6 times, and every break has been a KO (2) or injury (3). I am AV 7 and he has the MB skill for 4 of those 6 AV breaks. Not to mention that he has yet to fail on knocking a player down (5 for 5 and one stab thanks to the Chaos cup). It will not be a good game. I think he had to use a reroll once.

Back to your question.

I would vote Pro.

I still find it amazing your using that team. It has been beat up a lot! How are you finding the woodelves in LRB 5 and in a challenge league?
