'Not in the face!' How do I survive a chaos pounding?

Post by Blinky »

In my first season and playing a tough game this week against a powerful Chaos team with my fragile/agile humans.

Last time we played I had four men injured before you could say 'my turn 3 then'
It was messy.

2 questions...

Any advice on how to setup/how to survive the kick off?
How do I counter 2 x AG4 Chaos Warrior running backs? (yeah thats right)

play dwarfs.

if you are averse to this, um...do what you usually do with humans. exploit their weaknesses.
the best human coaches are the one who have played as lots of other teams, and it comes as a sord fo 6th sense how to exploit weaknesses.

but for chaos...they lack speed (compared to humies), and they lack skills.
id say force him to play the ball. if he is focusing on dodging and passing, he'll be thinking less about blocks, and he'll make more mistakes.

against a well developed chaos team...may god have mercy on your soul.

Can you put up the rosters of the two teams, because Chaos teams in particular can develop in several different ways it would help if we knew what you were playing against and fielding yourself.

You should have no problems, except I think you are giving up a ton of TV, so he should get some inducements against you.

On offense you can mark his players and outrun them, which should be reasonably effective with how much block you have. On defense you can get into his backfield before he cages up (hopefully) but if not, you can still blast some holes. This won't work once he loads up on more guard, so take advantage now :)

Use your Ogre as guard machine, and use your dauntless linemen to take care of Chaos Warriors on the line. I don't know that I would hit with the Ogre all that much, he is more valuable as a walking assist!

Try to play a running game which threatens both sides of the pitch, to spread him thin.

If I were you, I would cut the leader blitzer once you can replace him, and I'd pick up guard on at least two blitzers. But overall, I don't think your team is poorly made. Personally I like to go with Fend and Wrestle on my human linemen, but back in LRB 4 when these skills didn't exist, my human linos were great with block too!

You can be as bashy as the chaos provided you position well. 16 blitzes with your Mighty Blow guy should be able to remove a couple of beastmen from the pitch. Your dauntless lino's can hold their own against his CW's.

Oh, and don't forget to foul the mino whenever he goes down 8)

My Bulls have the "Thin Skull" trait. After every block they make, roll a D6. On a 1+ they get ko-ed and stay in the ko-box for the rest of the game.

More Guard wouldn't hurt... I would get the Ogre into the middle of his CWs and put the dauntless linos on 'em.... I do the same thing with my Necros using one guard Zombie and two dauntless Zombies.... Attack his beastmen with your blitzers and especially the one with mighty blow....

I agree that the team doesn't look bad at all....
