Stupid Apothecary...
In a recent game against a HUGELY Under-rated lizardmen team, My apothecary thought It wise to tend to my skaven kicker........This then allowed by Blitzer to pick up a serious concussion.
My upper management is currently pursuing a malpractice suit. (Save the kicker....dumb...dumb..dumb!)
My current options are as follows, with 130k in treasury.
1) Suck it up, play with AV 7 blitzer. Only skill is strip ball right now. Buy 3rd re-roll with treasury. Use my throwers advance to get block. (also has accurate)
2) Replace the blitzer for a fresh one, Drain treasury. Use Thrower advance to add leader as a temporizing measure.
3) Replace blitzer, forget re roll. Take block on thrower. ( or another fancy skill)
Ideas? The Apothecary has already been sold to clan moulder for further...."training"

Although my Skaven experience is limited, I'd pick Option 2. A blitzer with lowered armor is asking to be knocked over, so sucking it up isn't a choice I'd pursue. Leader gives you the re-roll you're looking for so spending the cash on a new blitzer isn't a bad thing.

Option 2. And I would not give Strip Ball to a Blitzer. Get him Strength Skills! Only potentially 3 players in the Skaven team can do that on a normal roll, so I would save Strip Ball for a Blodging Runner.
Cheers!

Yeah, in the long run, -1 AV on a blitzer is a big deal, and better to replace him now, than wait till later (and maybe lose more SPP that he picks up).
Another benefit of giving him the axe is that the new one will be ready to play the next game, while keeping him means you're down to one blitzer for the next match.
On a related Skaven note... my thrower got his first skill last night, and a rolled the all-powerful double nickel.
+1 AV?
+1 MA?
Double Skill (thinking strong arm?)
Regular Skill (leader, accurate, block?)
Ugh, so many options! Where to go?
My first reaction is strong arm, since it'll be so hard to get later.

Tough call, I never thought much about extra arms, but that might be useful. Actually, I -really- wanted to get leader on him, but maybe I should just make him a stellar passer.
Extra arms is nice (I like the + to pickup, as him failing to pick up the ball will really slow my starting drives down), but so many options!
My chances to get strong arm on him are few and far inbetween, but then again, extra arms would allow me to put him on one side of the pitch, and a gutter runner on the other, and then pass from the GR to him with a 2+ catch (then he can move into a better passing position, or handoff).
Ugh, Chaos was soooo much easier. Block, guard, mighty blow.

Accurate + Strong Arm is lethal if you rely on the passing game. If you find your skaven are waiting for that all-important Long Bomb in the backfield, go for Strong Arm. If, however, you're just handing the ball off to Gutter Runners and letting them go nuts, Extra Arms would be the way to go.

That's part of the fun with more agile teams. There are lots more useful skills options IMO.
Back to the original subject. I'd pick option 2) as well. And as others have said, Strip Ball goes to a blodging GR ideally. The Blitzer needs more bashy skills. So Strip Ball was not a bad choice, but probably not the optimal choice. Depending on your league: tackle, guard, mighty blow, piling on, Frenzy, etc... So getting a new one allows for a fresh start on skill selection too.
The length of you league also makes a difference. If the league is almost over, you may want to keep him.

I'm gonna go against the grain here and say keep the blitzer for the time-being. -AV isn't that bad really, it doesn't decrease his effectiveness, but will probably result in him being off the field more.
If you're lucky, by the time he is back in action, you'll only have to play with him for a game until you can afford to replace him. And even if you can't, then as long as you don't gain too many SPPs with him, it shouldn't be a problem.
More of a gamble keeping him and hoping things work out, but I reckon Skaven are a gamblers team

I thought about keeping him too.
My only problem is this.
He misses the next game....No xp, but still on the roster, so no rookie either.
He plays the following game....afterwards, I can reasonably expect to have the dough to recruit.
That's 2 games the rookie could have been forced advancing.
Although it sucks to burn my re-roll, I think punting him is the best long term solution.
