Multiple Secret Weapons?

Post by Funksultan »

I coulda sworn there was a rule in LRB5 that you could only field one secret weapon at a time... but now can't find it.

Did I imagine the whole thing?

Yes, you can absolutely field as many secret weapons as you have secret weapons, up to 11.

Of course, unless you have nearly unlimited bribes or the Ref has been sent off, it isn't a wise move.

Yikes, and you HAVE to set up the players you have, right?

Our gobbo team had a total of 15 gobbos, with 5 missing the next game.

He used his inducements for the star player bomber, but that only left him with 11 players (now including 5 secret weapons). He'd have to deploy em all on the first turn? Ugh.....

Not necessarily. The only rules for deployment are a minimum of three players on the Line of Scrimmage and 0-2 players in each wide zone.

Where are you getting that Rit?

Page 8, para 3 of LRB5 says...

"Each coach must set up 11 players, or if they can't field 11 then as many players as they have in Reserves, between their end zone and the halfway line, and within the following restrictions:"

I could swear there's a paragraph in the LRB on that... but sure enough, pg. 6 says you must attempt to field 11 players. I think I got confused over the minimum 3 before you can safely concede. Heh, looks like I'll have to explain this one to our league... again...

So, in short, your five-weapon, eleven-goblin team is hooped. Better make that first drive count!

In my experience, such a gobbo team has a ridiculously low TV, and can afford to hire stars and get bribes to allow themselves to stay on the field longer. However... I still think they will be hosed!

Best pick up Morg and Ripper and go with 4 Big Men for as long as you can. Morg is instantly your best ball carrier :)

Ripper, YES! A "not-ever stupid" troll.... Consider, if you don't have any Trolls on the team now, inducing Merc Trolls with Grab... LOADS o' fun for fouling and chainsaw mayhem....
