Juggernaut. If you are using Break Tackle, then you are blitzing. So Juggernaut cancels Stand Firm and Fend and Wrestle, reduces the chances of a turnover by turning the both down result into a push-back, and increases the chances of sending opponents crowd surfing. Break Tackle and Juggernaut and Frenzy work great together on Rat Ogres, and Minotaurs.datalorex wrote:That sounds like a good strategy! Then what though? In fact I'd take Juggernaut before Break Tackle for the following reasons:
- most of the time, no opponent will be standing next to your RO. So if they are standing next to him, just block them. And if your opponent marks your RO for whatever reason it will a be crucial Blitz so you'd better not take the RO ti blitz anyhow (important lesson: don't rely on Big Guys

- even with Break Tackle your chances of failure while doing the Blitz are 30% (2+ Wild Animal followed by 2+ dodge). And with Loner using a Reroll is also not always helpful. And even if you are using BT without Blitzing the chances of failure are 58% (4+WA followed by 2+ dodge)...
So, BT is nice but IMO only after Juggernaut.

Nah, actually, they aren't that bad. If at all possible, just do everything else first on your turn before you act with the big guy.

Rat Ogres are pretty good in a skaven team since they add high strength, frenzy and prehensive tail to the team, which the other skaven positionals cannot provide (this in contrast with the mino, which adds little new to a chaos team). But you have to be carefull with that thing as it is a turnover machine. In my experience if you can make the threath of a rat ogre blitz big enough so your opponent has to take that into account and play differently (for example: not cage up) then he's already done his job without rolling a die for it.
Rat Ogres are neat, but you have to use them with great consideration. I make great use of him on defence once the opponent has managed to secure the ball because skaven defence becomes sketchy at best then and the rat ogre gives you a hit-or-miss chance at playing hard defence.

Update....
Well, I decided to restart, and ditching the Rat Ogre, started with 3 GR instead (along with 3 TRR and a spare linerat).
Wow. Beat the gobbo team 5-2, and last night had an AMAZING game against the Necro team. Won 6-0, with 2 or 3 blitz kickoffs. Even then, I feel horrible, his dice were definitely not with him. His flesh golems were going down to my linerats.
Gutter Runners are amazing. The ability to get into the backfield so fast to pressure the ball is great. With a little help from a blitzer, it's a fast 2 turn score with surprising ease.
Huge thanks to everyone here... you guys were right as right can be. The Rat Ogre woulda slowed down so much for me, and every time I line up on defense, I'm only putting 3 fodder rats on the line anyway, so he doesn't need to carry anything.
2 games in, and I've got 2 blodging Gutter Runners, a thrower with Strong Arm (doubles), a blitzer with guard, and a linerat with kick. I was a little leary of going kick before block, but WOW. What a difference! I'm able to kick so deep into the enemy zone now. It's really the key to rat defense as I was told (and makes those 2-turn scores happen on defense with one good block roll).
Really looking forward to the next steps... I'm thinking my regular linerats should be thinking about wrestle instead of block, with 2 dwarf players, and 2 norse, that might help my line stay alive just a little longer.

That's really not a bad matchup and what Linerats do. Pound with them. I find that if I run them like I stole them they last forever. If I try and protect one he suffers severely for it. Run Skaven balls out! Love the Gutters but remember, they're replaceable too and very quick to skill back up when you do need to replace one.Funksultan wrote: His flesh golems were going down to my linerats.

totally agree. Skaven are supposed to win, not stay alive. with 4 gutter runners, it's no problem when 1 or 2 go down. they're not too expensive and still useful even with a minimum of skills (and you can often get 1st skill in 1 game) or even as a rookie.Snew wrote:That's really not a bad matchup and what Linerats do.
