Necromantic Team

Post by stashman »

I am planning to start a necromantic team. I thought it was easy, but hell no! Compared to Undead its very hard to get a good roster with necros.

Can I have some advice. I will need atleast 3 Rerolls.

All suggestions are welcome.

Your team may depends on the rest of the league. We were playing with the free FF of 5 so I had

2 Werewolves
2 Wights
1 Flesh Golem
6 Zombies
3 Rerolls

Having the 2 WW gives you fast movers plus guys that can score early. The zombies are extra bodies and LOS. FG and Wights stick around because of the ST/skills. They can blitz well and with higher AV stick around more than the rest of the team. It's a more balanced build with a little bit of everything.

Alternately if you have to pay for FF you could go with the same team and a FF of 2

I'm just starting with the team but played vs. pro elves. The WW rock with the high move and frenzy. FG tied up the center and the wights acted as safeties.

My winning team started:

5x Zombies
2x Flesh Golems
2x Wights
2x Werewolves
2 Rerolls
2 FF

18 wins 4 ties and 5 losses through three seasons... undefeated in it's first six games... 430,000 gold in the bank.... I've added, after two seasons, two ghouls while replacing a half dozen key players....

Two rerolls seems slight, but you should be able to bank quickly to three....

Anyway, that's my experience....

I think having good positionals is more important than having enough re-rolls. A re-roll and a Zombie is the same price as a Flesh Golem, and that Golem is a better deal any day.

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

And that Flesh Golem needs as many games as he can get to gain the few CAS and HOPEFULLY an MVP to get his first skill.

Though you WILL wish you had another Reroll. ST4 no-Block rolls do that.

Yeah, though until the prices get reduced... you definitely can't have everything.... :P

At least you should be getting 2d blocks with St4.... I tend to save those no-block rolls till later... so the wights & weres will have to cover each other while the FGs and Zombies are doing their best to box the opponents, or at least fall down in a good spot....

Forget the Golem - it's over-priced and underpowered.
Take Zombies instead.

I think he means, forget taking golems NOW. You should definitely get them at some point though.

What do you guys think of Wrestle instead of Block on Zombies? I think it's good against bashy opponents but worse against agile teams.

Zombies are too slow for picking wrestle over block I reckon. It is a good skill, but zombies skill up slowly and wrestle won't help them get any CASs whereas block might.

It depends on how long the league has been going on. After 20 matches there will probably be Block on every teams players, then wrestle is a very good option to block. Block is only very good at the begining of a league.

I've played one team for ~30 games, now, and the best any ONE zombie did (he's now KIA) is three skills....

Block, Dauntless (to make up for lack of Monster and ST4 guys) and Guard on doubles....

Nope, I mean forget the Golems period.
Under LRB4, they were good players (Stand Firm) - under LRB5 they don't do anything special to justify the extra cost.

Golems are pretty poor unless you're in a long league (think 20 games or more). Any less and they won't get the skill rolls to make them worthwhile.

So rosters in my head would be short league:

240 2 Werewolves
180 2 Wights
140 2 Ghouls
200 5 Zombies
210 3 Rerolls
20 Fanfactor 2
10 Bank

& Long:

240 2 Werewolves
220 2 Flesh Golums
90 1 Wight
240 6 Zombies
210 3 Rerolls

They are your only source for ST 4. I can't imagine a successful Necro team without it. If you find one, lmk.
