Zap! and Regen

Post by datalorex »

Zap!
Play after your turn has ended or your kick-off to an opponent is resolved, but before your opponent's turn begins. Roll a D6. On a 1, the spell FIZZLED and this card has no effect. On a 2+, one targeted is treated as having ONLY the following characteristics and skills for the remainder of the drive (MA4, ST1, AG4, AV4, Dodge, Leap, No Hands, Stunty, Titchy). If he was carrying the b all it will bounce once from his square. His characteristics/skills will return to normal at the end of the drive, but any injury he suffers as a frog is permanent.

Regeneration- If he player suffers a Casualty result on the injury table, then roll a D6 for Regeneration after the roll on the Casualty table and after any Apothecary roll is allowed.

If a player is Zapped and gets an injury, does he get the chance to Regen? The all caps are in the rule book. I did not add that. I did add the bold though.

Seeing as a frog doesn't have regen, I'd say no.

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

Frogs can't regenerate. They also can't allow their skin to dry out.

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

Thanks guys, I knew that. But Vomit, our fearless league commissioner, ruled otherwise because it hurt his team. Nothing liked biased commissioner's ruling what is obvious when it suited him otherwise.

And, now, for the rest of the story....

And, now, the rest of the story....

The game was played, in isolation, between "the commish" and a veteran coach of 15+ years.... The multiple cards came up and the results applied.... Whether or not the troll-turned-to-frog-now-troll got a regen roll was discussed and agreed upon by the two participants... just as all in-game rules questions are resolved.... Right or wrong... and the accuser forgets his mistakes (including a game where three coaches were allowed, without acrimony, to overrule the commish and the commish was later proven right... but the game results were allowed to stand)....

(The Commish): "Had the peculiarity of the situation not been recalled during a casual recap of the game, no one else would've known.... We don't always play together, and I'll be the sludge on a Fanatic's iron balls if I'm gonna go asking, enquiring, searching for something to twist in my favor... contrary to current accusation...."

This commish's by-word has always been to rule as if the situation could be applied to any player(s) and not once has he made a ruling without the consultation of AT LEAST one other coach (especially the one involved in the game).... Once before, this commish was like-wise accused and the position of commish was offered to his accuser... and refused....
Mad Jackal wrote:Did you read the part in the rule book that said the commish's word was law?
It's forgotten all the time when it suits....

(The Commish): The good news is, the league is over... whether or not it is re-convened can wait till January... whether or not one plays and or re-elects the past commish can wait till then also.... Anyone that wants to walk 1-3 seasons in my boots is well-advised to think twice!

Right now... I'm gonna kick back, take a fresh team to a local, nearby-league I just heard about, and let someone else be "the commish".... Now, I've heard he/they have blown some rulings big-time... but, ya' know what?, I'm gonna point to my rulebook, in-game, and then smilingly take whatever the commish says... ala page 24, paragraph 5, of the rulebook (which, to this day, I've never invoked and WILL NOT violate in the league of any commish): "In a league, the Commisioner's word is LAW. He is allowed to change or modify any of the Blood Bowl rules as he sees fit. Including any of the League Rules that follow. In the immortal words of fellow game designer Thomas Pirenen: If the League Commisioner says that Dwarfs can now fly, your reply must be "Yes, Sir! How high?" If you don't like the way a commisioner runs his league, you have two choices: put up with it, or leave the league. Arguing with the commisioner is NOT an option. 'Nuff said, I hope."

And now you know... the rest of the story.... Good Day! :)

Leagues die when commisioners change things during a league. You're mostly there to smile and pump hands. Break stalemates and make occasional rules decisions.

Ya know, he doesn't really talk like that in real life. He's actually makes sense sometimes when you talk to him.

Wow, you should probably find a more appropriate forum to launch a personal attack on your league commisioner. IT's one thing to argue about the theoretical nature of a rule change, a complete other thing to call out your league commisioner for a not so straightforward ruling.

I may disagree with out league commish from time to time, but I like to keep it all in the league!
