I'd argue your conditionals are even uglier.MadLordAnarchy wrote:That's such an ugly rule, I never took it up myself.Darkson wrote:Remember, the rules say "after the roll UNLESS stated otherwise in the skills description".
It could be situational - can only be used in a case where X eg can't be used with both down or can only be used with both down, or can't be used with an assist.

I would in turn suggest that deciding after the roll whether to use something is a particularly unpleasant piece of powergaming nonsense that sickens me to my core.
I'm not sure I'd use any of these conditionals for my own version but the concept of a low blow block is definitely one that I'm going to try and steal.

I don't see it as power gaming at all. IMO it's a much more organic way of representing abilities. For example, with Break Tackle you get much more of a feeling of a brute building up momentum. Having to declare it before hand just doesn't give that same feeling.

I appreciate I'm in the minority on this one - I'll try not to clog up someone else's thread on an argument I'm not particularly interested in winning given that I make my own rules up anyway.

Let's face it, that's one of the joys of blood bowl. to house rule in whatever you and your friends want to enjoy the game.MadLordAnarchy wrote:I appreciate I'm in the minority on this one - I'll try not to clog up someone else's thread on an argument I'm not particularly interested in winning given that I make my own rules up anyway.

It is? I thought the real joy was griping about someone else's house rules?stormmaster1 wrote:Let's face it, that's one of the joys of blood bowl. to house rule in whatever you and your friends want to enjoy the game.

BTW, while I see the arguments for and against declaring the use of such a skill before the roll, I'm not sure it would make too much of a difference in practice: a player who's been given this skill will probably always throw a "block" using this ability anyway (just like stabbers).
