Can you confirm something for me?
Team 1: Kicked off.
Ball landed 3 squares from the half way line.
Team 1: rolled blitz. Then promptly ran into the opponents half grabbed the ball and lobbed it into his own half.
As league commis should I have ruled a touch back?
It was an adacious tactic, from a tactically boring player (Dwarf), and had no affect on the outcome, as team 1 was three TD's ahead and did not score from this.
HOWEVER I want to know whether this was a correct decision as if it is against the rules I don't want this to become a "House Rule".
In hindsight I think I should have ruled touch back but I was so surprised at the tactic I allowed it!

Correct!mepmuff wrote:When the kick off table is rolled / applied, the ball is still in the air. All team 1 could have done was put someone under the ball and try to catch it once the blitz turn was over.
In short: there's no ball handling during the blitz turn.

Order of events
1 - all you do is choose a target square for the ball (it is not actually placed for play)
2 - Roll on the kick off table
3 - Apply the result of the kick off table (in this case blitz) ball is still in the air - can't touch the ball
4 - resolve the kick - ball lands (roll for distance, direction, bounce or catch the ball (either team), if necessary apply touch back rule per normal)
5 - Receiving teams Turn
1 - all you do is choose a target square for the ball (it is not actually placed for play)

Nope, not correct. The correct order is:skritter wrote:Order of events

5 - Receiving teams Turn
1 - place ball
2 - Scatter the the ball d6 squares in direction d8 (can be altered by the kick skill)
3 - Roll on the kick off table and apply the result (in this case blitz)
4 - If a player is under the ball he can try to catch it just like an inaccurate pass. Otherwise bounce the ball. If it goes out of bounds anywhere during this procedure a touchback occurs.
5 - Receiving teams Turn
edit: and remember if a player gets under the ball at kickoff it's a catch roll (counts as catching an inaccurate pass), not a pickup roll so you can't use the sure hands skill but you can use the catch skill.

Conceded - You are right. I have played steps 2 and 3 the wrong way round.TuernRedvenom wrote: Nope, not correct. The correct order is:

That's a good idea! Have to borrow that one!sangraal wrote:I've stuck a green stuff ball to a small flying base - its used for Blitzes & on other occasions so the fact the ball is still in the air is clear.
