HE Wrestle - next skill?
Which second (normal roll) you sugest for HE lineman with Wrestle?
I thought about Dauntless as I dont have any ST uprgade and often straggle against bashy teams.
Rest of team:
Blitzer - Blodge, Sidestep
Blitzer - Block, Tackle, Stripball
2xLineman - Blodge
Lineman - Kick, Guard
Lineman - Block, Guard
Lineman - Block
Lineman
Thrower - Pass, Safe throe, Accurate
Catcher - Catch, Block, Dodge
Catcher - Catch, Block,+AG, Leap
Catcher - Catch, Block, Dodge, +AG
RR:3

Wrestle/Tackle is solid if you face a bunch of dodgy teams. Wrestle/Strip Ball is good for a ball-stripper (not as good for that as Juggernaut, but enough so that Juggy isn't worth it on doubles), but you've already got a Strip Ball player. Yeah, Dauntless is a good choice for this guy.
Side note: You'd get great mileage from another Side Stepper: maybe it shouldn't be this guy, though. Is one of those Block/Dodge Linemen close to 31 SPP? If so, get ready to give him Side Step. If not, is the Block guy or the unskilled guy ready to go up? One more would give you a pair of shutdown corners on the wide zone (with one sq. between you and the sidelines) and a great place for a couple of those Wardancers of yours to hang out, one square behind and inside. That forces your opponent to hit you up the middle every time. Three Side Steppers would give you a reserve in case one goes out (I find that people only go their way once, so this doesn't happen a lot). Four of them gives you Side-Steppin' inside linebackers, and lets you stop everything for a turn one square on your side of the line, maximizing your shot on the pocket while it's still forming. It also gives people fits, which is a lot of fun in a fixed league but in a challenge league you might start to get lonely. When you start to see fullbacks with Grab, you know it's workin'.

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

Wrestle/dodge or Wrestle/tackle is nice combo but I have bigest problems with ST disadventage so I will probably go with Dauntless... Second reason is that I loose a lot of players (around 7 in 10 matches). They are either killed or cripled beyond any use. I think that in 2 season I changed every player in a team - except that wrestle guy! So lets make him a Big guy killerCramy wrote:Depends on the teams that you face. Dodge, Tackle are both good options. I'd go for Dodge. Usually can't have enough dodge on an elf team.

Matt, thats a nice advices, and your side-step defence looks like solid. As soon as I get second Side-steper I will try some of these:
Code:
- - - -|- - X X X - -|- - - -
- S - -|X S - - - S K|- - S -
- - C -|- - - - - - -|- C - -
Even with three Side Step players:
Code:
- - - -|- - X S X - -|- - - -
- S - -|X X - - - X K|- - S -
- - C -|- - - - - - -|- C - -

Side step is very cool on a wrestle player. If he's on the LoS and being blocked, five of the six block results work out well for you. Add in dodge as the 3rd skill, and the LoS is yours. With these skills you'll probably never want to block (you want this guy to be blocked), so tackle becomes less useful: the 4th skill would be diving tackle.
Guard on doubles.
Guard on doubles.

In that case, develop the rookie lino with Dirty Player and Sneaky Git. Not the best skill-selection for value since DP got dumped-on by the rules committee, but that's still how you hunt big guys, and your team in general has among the best value-per-improvement of all teams in the game (along with Chaos and the other three Elf teams: GA access on everybody means you've got great options at real depth, while Chaos have a dearth of starting skills and huge combo options).Falkom wrote:So lets make him a Big guy killer![]()

Hi Falkom
It seems like you never ever used Wrestle? You need to play with the skill to know when to use it best. I love wrestle and its great when you really want a player prone:
to foul
to get the ball
to free another player from a dodge
to be annoying at LOS
Find your way to use a wrestler.

You are right as this is all roles which wrrestle lino can perform quite well. However I did find that futher development of wrestler is kinda slow. As his initial role is to be annoying on LOS he usually find himself stack in midlle, trading blows with opponents, which also usually leads to some injuries (KO, miss next game, etc). Futhermore, most of his other roles are to provide assistance so not much TD for him. All of this impede his development quite a lot.

Well, it looks like wrestle/dauntless linelef was good choice, helping me keep pace against ST4 players and even in some important ocasions against Big guys.
What do you sugest for Blodging Lion warrior as his third (normal) skill? I can not decide between sidestep and pass block... or something third maybe?
Also should I start developing rookie lineelf as SG, DP player or go with usuall route (block, dodge)?
Rest of team:
Blitzer - Blodge, Sidestep
Blitzer - Block, Tackle, Stripball
2xLineman - Blodge
Lineman - Kick, Guard
Lineman - Block, Guard
Lineman - Block
Lineman
Thrower - Pass, Safe throw, Accurate
Catcher - Catch, Block, Dodge, Skill?
Catcher - Catch, Block,+AG, Leap
Catcher - Catch, Block, Dodge, +AG, Leap
RR:3
Our league have 24 teams (2 divisions) - Lizardmen, Chaos, 4xHuman, 6xOrcs, CDwarves, 2xDwarves, DElves, Ogres, Khemri, Skaven, Norse, Nurgle... I cant recall remaining two

Seeing that a lineelf with SG+DP would be worth 110K, I wouldn't bother. DP alone is much, much better and being worth 90K on pitch makes him a better trade for opposing positionals. Sneaky git is not worth the effort because if you're fouling you should be fouling with enough assists to break AV on a 6+ imo.Falkom wrote:Also should I start developing rookie lineelf as SG, DP player or go with usuall route (block, dodge)?
Of course, this only if you subscribe to the theory that Elves should foul. I for one do as it's the best way to eliminate tough and dangerous players while also providing a protection/preventation against Piling On Blitzers.
It's pretty predictable, but I'd go with Side Step. You already have a strip baller and 2 leapers so he would be a nice choice for the "standard" route of development.Catcher - Catch, Block, Dodge, Skill?

For the Lino, take DP before SG, if at all. Otherwise, it depends: can you edit the above to indicate how many SPP each player has?
For the Catcher, are you afraid to put an AV7 player in at the corner? If you give him Side Step, this is the place to put him, but it's a blitz-me position. He may well end up getting hit sometimes, but if you're afraid of getting a 130k AV7 player blitzed he shouldn't get Side Step. That's also one more SS guy and you can make a run on the skill and force people to start blowing skills on Grab (all those Dwarf/CD teams kind of worry me there).
Pass Block? Hmmm... on a Pro Elf, I'd say "yeah!" as NoS + PB is pretty cool. Maybe save PB for #5 on one of those +AG guys (the second one to get to 5, if at all -- Sure Hands on an MA8/AG5 Blodge Leap player is disturbingly cool).
You've got two Leapers. If you use this Catcher as a back-up on defense, get Leap, so you can keep the strategy going if one of them gets hurt (yeah, buddy, I got THREE Wardancers!).
Seeing how heavy your league is, you might want another Dauntless guy. I'm not convinced, but it might be worth it. That IS a very bashy league.
