beast basing
Hi,
a question just accured in our league today. Our nurgele player fielded his new beast of nurgle model for the first time (a heavy converted greater demon of nurgle)... now, his old beast was an old whf beast of nurgle which took up 2 fields (similar to a bullcentaur), now the new model takes up 4 field like most regular big guys... is there actually any regulation about how much space a model takes up under his base??

All models should only take up ONE square on the field, Big Guy or not.
Large Monsters taking up 4 squares was an old 2nd edition rule, and hasn't been used since the days of 3rd edition.

Darkson, I believe he was talking about the fact that a normal 40mm big guy base nearly covers 4 (2x2) squares.
But Darksons anwser is correct without doutbt, regardless of how much squares a big guy covers physically, in game terms, it's only 1 square. You have to learn to play with this fact, or make yourself a 40mm board.
Edit: For Bull Centaurs, our league decided that they always stand on the square under their front hooves. For Big Guys, just try to position them in the center of the square they stand on. If there's another mini standing beside him, it has to be placed half on the big guys base, and half on the pitch.
It it get's too crowded, just take the Big Guy off the field, and use some dummy miniature instead.

U have to cram them onto smaller basespoochée wrote:but what do we actually do with models like big guys or bullcentaurs which take up more then one square??

I put big guyz on a 30mm base. The amount of conversion work needed depends on the model. Something like a Bull Centaur could be converted so its reared up on its hind legs for example.

Only if you don't centre it on one square.Meradanis wrote:Darkson, I believe he was talking about the fact that a normal 40mm big guy base nearly covers 4 (2x2) squares.

You also have the option of taking a standard 40x40mm base and cut in half diagonally, and then make a couple of additional parallel cuts to each half, and then glue the two halves back together. I've done that with a couple of big guys, and it works pretty well (though it can be a pain to get the two halves to glue together properly again...).

Gah ... 30mm bases are only 0,10 Euros each. I think I'll stick to the option where I don't slice myself with my exacto knife ..Kyrel wrote:You also have the option of taking a standard 40x40mm base and cut in half diagonally, and then make a couple of additional parallel cuts to each half, and then glue the two halves back together.
