Haven't been to a tournie yet when I didn't see it tried.TuernRedvenom wrote: I've seen it happen succesfully multiple times in tourneys (at least 10 different occasions IIRC) with skaven and woodies. Many coaches even save their reroll just for this play...
Been tried against me three times.
Only one worked but he did have a MA 10 Catcher and two with Sprint which made it easier...

It seems to me that you'd be able to get one chain push very reliably, and two once in awhile... and that if you find yourself trying for more it's because you failed to control the clock.
That's the thing... good coaches don't end up tied 1-1 with one turn to go very often. I guess it might happen once in awhile, but I can't see this winning a lot of games for anyone skillful enough to pull it off.

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

Do you not think the quality of the competition matters?mattgslater wrote: That's the thing... good coaches don't end up tied 1-1 with one turn to go very often. I guess it might happen once in awhile, but I can't see this winning a lot of games for anyone skillful enough to pull it off.
Of the top ten NAF rated coaches who played in the World Cup there were 25 draws in their 70 games.
So just over a third ended up tied.
And who says it needs to be 1-1...

I can see that it would come up. But if developing your 1TS strategies without obvious potential (Skaven, for instance) makes you a "great" coach, then by whatever definition of "great" is applied, you must have been just on the cusp. Also note that it's easy for a defense to make most 1TS efforts difficult if they're expecting it. And is there any other time you'd try it?
It depends a lot on the team, though. A well-run Skaven or Elf team will get very few close games, and when they are close, they're usually won by the team that dictates the tempo: a one-turn gimmick will only generally work if something else would have worked as well. Orcs and Dwarfs, who have a much harder time of it, have more use. I totally see it for CDs, but that's one team race.
