+St is never wrong.
Sometimes, rarely, there is a case for other skills e.g. block on a big guy. there is a case for it but +ST is sooooo good defensively. I have yet to see a single case where i would turn down a +ST. Buggrit posted not long ago about this choice on a snow troll. He got a second + ST and turned it down for block. 1 ST5 star with 2 assists was enough to kill him. +ST makes that sooo much harder to do.

For Mummies, I agree. You need to hit every turn with your mummies for Undead, and most turns with your Tomb Guardians on Khmeri. With so many blocks, you need the block. Plus you have a high strength mate next to you stopping you from being ganged up on.PubBowler wrote:Block is better for Big Guys (and mummies) than +1ST.
Assists are often easy to find, and certainly easier than another double.
For Ogres on a human team, etc, I disagree. They will often be left alone, short on assists, or be the targets of high strength opposition or Dauntless. The +STR outweighs block their, IMHO.
Oh, and never underestimate the psychological aspects of BB. Some people just give up altogether when they see the Strength 6 mummy, or Ogre, or what=not across the way!

agree on the psychological aspects of +ST players. +ST players are also more likely to become your teams star players- part of the fun of the game. The other thing aside from reducing turnovers from block is simply that +ST players will probably get blocked less. Treemen recieve very few blocks. +ST Trees recieve even less and ST8 trees aren't going to blocked unless it's 2D against or you have no elves left.Jural wrote:For Mummies, I agree. I think this is more because it's not important to block treemen, they have very little effect on a Wood Elf teams ability to win a game and easily pinned, than because people are scared of blocking the ST6 player.stormmaster1 wrote: Treemen recieve very few blocks.
If you look at say, Icepelt (another ST6 player), then you see that ST6 is no defense from being a target.

Sort of. Treemen on a Wood Elf teamreally aren't all that terribly easily pinned for their cost, if the Wood Elves are playing good football. Take Root is worse when it's not working, and the low MA doesn't mean much for a zero-position Stand Firm player. They get in their hits (this makes a big difference in the early season, as a bash team that ends up down below 10 men is in deep doo-doo against all but the most mangled Wood Elves), and most of the time the drive ends either before or right after they root. If anything, they're TOO tough to function as damage sponges, because unlike other big guys, it takes more than just a little extra push to neutralize them and given how soft the rest of the team is, the equation is just so obvious.PubBowler wrote:I think this is more because it's not important to block treemen, they have very little effect on a Wood Elf teams ability to win a game and easily pinned, than because people are scared of blocking the ST6 player.stormmaster1 wrote: Treemen recieve very few blocks.

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

True, but it is harder to target ST6 players than ST5 with block, unless they are isolated. +2 ST gives so much to a player, any player.PubBowler wrote:I think this is more because it's not important to block treemen, they have very little effect on a Wood Elf teams ability to win a game and easily pinned, than because people are scared of blocking the ST6 player.stormmaster1 wrote: Treemen recieve very few blocks.
