Double 6 on a Chainsaw Wielding Loony

Post by Aliboon »

After suffering my worst ever defeat in BB (8-0), everything going wrong from the off (1st Kick off result was a blitz to the opo) and then everything continuing to go wrong, Nuffle decided to screw me further and my Loony got his 2nd MVP, giving him his 1st skill and it was a double 6....

Is the +St worth it? An extra 50k in TV which will only ever be used in defence and to be honest, is only really likely to be the difference between a 2d block and a 3d block.

I'm thinking DP instead, what do yous think?

As +ST is purely defensive on a Looney, Block is the better choice, as that improves the defensive numbers more than +ST. DP is probably more useful. Pro is the only other doubles skill worth considering (reroll kickback!).

I'd pick Block. Chainsaws get Blocked a LOT, and he already has +3 to foul.

Dodge and Side Step are normal skill rolls. Tackle isn't particularly useful for a Chainsaw player, as it has no effect on Chainsaw attacks, and most of the time, noone dodges away from Chainsaws, they just knock them over.

Though given that it's so hugely unlikely that the Looney will ever get to 16SPPs, maybe Dodge is the best option. It's nearly as good as Block defensively, and its other use is invaluable. Pity that Stunty doesn't work with Secret Weapon, getting the Chainsaw to the pansy AV7 Catcher behind the Treeman is very handy.

Leap. Take leap whenever your chainsaw skills up, no matter what.

Ag2? No problem. AV 6? No problem. Take leap.

Why? It's hilarious! A leaping chainsaw? I think Nuffle himself came up with the idea. It's hilarious, and it's bound to do you well.

Also a good choice on doubles for your Deathroller, when you finally upgrade to beardies.

A Str 3 Looney is likly to get less 2D blocks against but the extra 20k price over a double skill may not really be worth it...

Doubles - Block, Pro & Dirty Player
Dirty Player is good if you Foul a lot,
Pro lets you reroll kickback if you do not have Team Rerolls.
Block means you go down less often, and against teams without block have that slim chance of getting Casulty SPP if the opponent goes down blocking you.

I would take Block and hope to get to 16 SPP's for Dodge so that I have a killer Looney to be feared throughout the land! :)

even with Block, this little grubin is going to die... The Best use of the Saw is in the foul. (Heck, you're going to get kicked out anyways... May as well go out in style)

I'd take DP and watch your opponent Cringe when you yell BUZZZZ, BUUUUZZZZZZ!!! every time one of his players falls over.

"Missed that dodge eh? BUZZZZ, BUUUUZZZZZZ!!!"

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

I wouldn't take the ST.

Have you considered Block?

Or maybe Dirty Player?

Dirty Player all the way for me. I use the Chainsaw mostly to foul, and he may be on the pitch for only one drive if he doesn't get kicked-off before that. Foul as much as you can. Next skill could be Sneaky Git if you play against lots of high armor opponents.

That's what i would do. block and ST are purely defensive and that's not really the point of the chainsaw. dirty player and sneaky git are the only skills that imrove the player at what it does best. Whats the point of picking survival skills on a model that's only going to last one drive anyway?

Can the ol' little chainsaw green 'uns have Right Stuff? Have they got it anyway (No rule book to hand)?

Leap! That'd be good to get at the ball carrier on defence. or NoS. :smoking:

I'll toss in my vote for Dirty Player. It greatly improves his chances of removing opponents from the pitch, which is really the only thing that a Chainsaw is good for (besides a few laughs, of course).

I can see the appeal of skills like block and dodge, but if you give your Chainsaw 'survival' skills you'll just be more disappointed at his (inevitable) gruesome death.

Technically, because fouling heavily with him makes it even more likely he'll get kicked off the pitch, Dirty Player may keep him alive longer than any other skill.
