Starting with 11 and journeymen
If you've a player missing the game down to a niggling injury do you get to replace him with a journeyman?
I've a player who just received his second niggle and I thinking it's probably better to cut him and take the journeyman as at least that way I'm guaranteed to have 11 players at the start.
It's a new DE team, only 3 games under it's belt and the last was a shocker, against a poor skaven player I failed virtually everything (double skulls, 1and1again...and again...and again), had two SI against (one was this second niggle for my runner), lost 2-3, rolled 1 for winnings and 1+1 for my fan factor to top everything off. I'm wondering if the game has actually cost me the runner long term as well, there's no point holding on to a player with a 30% chance of leaving me with 10 starters.

Well, he's not necessarily worth keeping. With the modifiers, he will probably die fairly soon. So whatever SPPs he gets will be lost. If you have the cash, you may want to consider retiring him.TalonBay wrote:Excellent, I'd completely missed that (evidently). Suddenly he's worth keeping again
Many thanks.

If I get enough money to buy a player I'll be buying player number 12 so that I can have a reserve!
Dumping the runner for a journeyman made sense only if the runner made it questionable that I would start a game with 11.
To drop the runner for a journeyman then get enough money to buy the journeyman means I'll guaratee to still only have 11 players next game (and I've downskilled too).
In a long league this might make sense (still dubious to be honest, that reserve will make a big difference) but in our 10 game league there's no way that's worth it.

Niggling will however cause your player to miss his next game just like any other Serious Injury will (41+ on Injury roll) but after that he stays on the team roster as per normal but with a +1 to any casualty rolls for each nigging injury (effectively making him a stunty or worse, but without the good stuff!!)plasmoid wrote:Hi Talonbay,
if you play with journeymen, you must be using LRB5. In LRB5 niggling injuries does not cause players to miss games. Niggling injuries are simply an injury modifier.

Good point. It should also be noted that when he misses the game, he doesn't count towards TV, and if his removal brings you under 11, allows you to pick up a journeyman for free.Buggrit wrote: Niggling will however cause your player to miss his next game just like any other Serious Injury will (41+ on Injury roll)

I'd wait till you finish the next game and see where you stand. You might have enough winnings to replace him completely. It might still be worthwhile to keep him as a reserve for a game or two after he's replaced as that extra body on the field might be critical, but if it was me, he'd draw the MVP while sitting on the bench for two games as a reserve and then die after getting it again on the third game (Nuffle really loves my teams). Its a chance( a gamble if you will), but starting out, the extra body might make it necessary, particularly if you are in a bashy league.

Just to clarify this 100% - that's a +1 to any subsequent injury roll, not casualty roll!Buggrit wrote:Niggling will however cause your player to miss his next game just like any other Serious Injury will (41+ on Injury roll) but after that he stays on the team roster as per normal but with a +1 to any casualty rolls for each nigging injury (effectively making him a stunty or worse, but without the good stuff!!)
