Player and Team Names: Ayatollahs, Amazons.
OK, two more teams. One, I've got some of the pieces for already, and the other I'm looking into options on. One team, I've got a bunch of player names for, but no team name. The other one I've got a team name for, but need a kickstart on player name ideas.
1) Amazons: Need team name, must be NFL spoof, no Cleveland, Indy, Washington, Houston Oilers, Pittsburgh or Arizona references. Nothing you didn't invent yourself: old hat is the enemy.
Blitzers: Haidee Allmen, Kendra Gernuccles, Ms. Ann Thropist, Liz Beane, need 1-2 for competition. I'd rather drop Allmen and Beane if I can find something vicious-but-PC (Gernuccles stays, damn it).
Catchers: Grace Flexitt, Leah Pinlizzer.
Throwers: Bonnie Flabundans, Sherri D. Welth.
Linewomen: Betty Botham, Bobbi Oppendowne, Mia Culpa, Mae Cupp, Rhonda House (actually, I knew a Rhonda House once... and funny enough she could really kick), need 4.
2) Persians (Norse): the Iranizona Ayatollahs. Same name issues. They should be Arabic spoofs. They can be cheesy or a bit risque, but shouldn't be inflammatory or obscene. Again, only if you haven't heard it before.
1x Efreet (S-Troll): #99.
2x Djinn (Ulf): #93, 94.
2x Assassin (Runner): #21, 82.
2x Dervish (Blitzer): #35 Al-Obeliq, #47 Al-Asteriq (using the Defender and Dervish models from the Impact Desert Dogs -- will order after payday)
2x Thrower: #6, #18.
9x Linemen: 3 in the 50s, 3 in the 60s, 3 in the 70s, one each numbered 0-8 in the single digits for rosters 10-16, plus 7, 8 if necessary.
Replaced players will get Roman numerals as sort of an automatic tracking mechanism.
Any and all shots on goal appreciated, whether I use them or not.
Thanks,
Matt

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

I was also thinking along a Baltimore line. I forgot to include Cincinnati in the list of teams I'd rather not use (the Dark Elves will be the Simply Nasty Manglers).
The Ballbuster Mavens? The Bustymore Ravenettes? Some variant thereof?
Other ideas? I'm not going down the Tampon Bay road.

I'm going to take Jural's "Mavens" idea (I have plans for Cincinnati already, and though the idea of a team called the Skavens might be funny, I can think of better rat puns). I also like the She-Hawks pun. I was wondering how to use the blue and green. So...
The Ballbustor Mavens
Catchers (Roster #s 1, 8 ), numbered 20-29, 80-89
81: Grace Phylexitt
28: Leah Pinlizzer
Throwers (Roster #s 2, 7), numbered 00-19
12: Bonnie Flabundans
07: Sherri D. Welth
Blitzers (Roster #s 3-6), numbered 30-49, 90-99
33: Nicole Dragger
94: Liz Beane
45: Ms. Ann Thropist
96: Haidee Allmen
Linewomen (Roster #s 9-16, plus 7-8 for extra options), numbered 50-79
70: Linda Hand
61: Mae Cupp
52: Bea Cupp (unless anyone can think of a Ray the Knife pun)
73: Betty R. Bottom
64: Pru Fanity
75: Mary Rich
56: Mia Culpa
67: Minnie Gunn
58: Candy Graham
69: Bobbi Oppendowne
Still open to great ideas to replace existing ones (gotta be better than something I've got), but it's time now to look at the Ayatollahs. Joke names that sound Arabic? Puns on common names from the Middle East, North Africa and Islamic Asia are cool (they don't have to be Persian: I can mix and match -- my audience is a bunch of Yanks after all). I have an Asterix pun for my two Dervishes (the models are just so appropriate for it), but I'm otherwise a little unsure.

You mean like the Chick-A-Go-Go Bares? The Chicks Who Go Bare? Hmmm... I still like the Ballbustor Mavens, but I really like that one too....

Even better for player names, including all options using my Options rules.
The Ballbustor Mavens
Linewomen:
Amy B. Lodebeldt
Sharon DeHoyt
Ms. Ann Thropist
Misty Mina
Ty Knotts
Lo Blowe
Haidee Allmen
Irene Mayden
Pru Fanity
Blitzers:
Tess Tosteroen
Nicole Dragger
Catchers:
Heidi Gosique
Grace Phylexitt
Throwers:
Bonnie Flabundans
Dee Cupp
Option-players (I'll model them all: I can take the Ogress or any two of the others).
Ogress: Lola Tawummin
Assassin: Rae the Knife (#52, of course!)
Blitzer: Katya Upp
Blitzer: Minnie Gunn
Catcher: Leah Pinlizzer
Catcher: Rita Plébuch
Question: Which three linewomen are alternates, and which six are starters? That is, which are the least-funny linewoman names?
